Atari HQ (1999)
Pac-Man World is a triumph in the convergence of classic and contemporary gameplay. Namco has masterfully combined many of the classic Pac-Man elements into a new game that more than holds its own against the better platform games of today. Simply put, Pac-Man World 20th Anniversary is a classic update done right and a great present to all classic gaming aficionados and Pac fans alike. Happy birthday, Pac-Man!
You don't have to play this sleek platform game to get your Pac-Man fix, however, thanks to the lavish extras packed in the game. The mazes mode provide plenty of colorful, 3-D maze variations, and the Classic mode let's you play an identical version of Pac-Man that started it all. Suffice to say, no Pac-Man fan should be without this brilliant game.

The ESRB rating is right on with this one. This IS a game for everyone. It’s challenging, but not too hard. It has responsive control, nice graphics and sound, and plenty of variety with general gameplay. If you’ve ever enjoyed any of the Pac-Man games in the past, you’ll probably appreciate what this game has to offer. This game will probably also appeal to those who like classic platform style games as this one plays a bit more like a 2D-platform game than most other platform games today even though it has the 3D element. Although the game may not be the most original thing out there (it IS based on a 20 year old game, after all), it definitely has original elements (such as the bosses) -- much like what made the original Pac-Man so successful. I was quite pleased all around and really found nothing to gripe about, which is why I’m happy to give this game a score of 89.
Mega Fun (Nov, 1999)
Was soll man zu diesem Stück Software groß sagen? Denn Pac-Man World vereint Spielwitz, Spielspaß und perfekte Technik. Anschauen!
The Video Game Critic (Jan 11, 2000)
In some ways it's a typical 3D adventure as you jump between platforms, collect items, and push buttons to open doors. However, Quest is smaller in scale and less complicated than most, so you won't be overwhelmed by huge levels or move combinations. But you will have fun. With its excellent production values and timeless gameplay, Pac-Man World is a likeable package that should appeal to a wide audience.

Power Unlimited (Dec, 1999)
GameSpot (Oct 11, 1999)
While the simple gameplay and cutesy premise may turn off some so-called "hard-core gamers," anyone with an open mind would do well to pick up the Pacster's newest offering. Basically an unpretentious offering that hold its own as a platformer, Pac-Man World is a fun little game that goes beyond mere regurgitation. This one is worthy of anyone's library. Don't call it a comeback.
Though the label says ‘for everyone’, make no mistake about it: Pac-Man requires good platforming skills. It also requires patience; to fully complete most levels you’ll be required to journey backwards in most levels. An occasionally awkward camera and slowdown mar an otherwise solid title. The original title and new 3D mazes mean platform/exploration and Pac-Man fans alike should definitely take a look.

Game Revolution (Nov, 1999)
Pac-Man World is a fairly obvious marketing ploy, meant to drag whatever money is left from a now-overused video game icon. Despite fairly good graphical effects, It reeks of unoriginality, and quick, corner-cutting development. For those true Pac-Man aficionados, who have the arcade booth, all the games for the super Nintendo, the doll, the comic book, and the pajamas, you probably bought Pac-Man World already. For the rest of us, this is definitely a rent-before-you-buy situation, or maybe even a don't-bother.
