Game Revolution (Sep, 1999)
If you are a snowmobile racing fan looking for a snowmobile racing game, then Sled Storm is a must buy. Look no further, this game is for you. However, since snowmobile racing isn't really the hottest growing sport in America, I can only tell the rest of you to rent this game and maybe you'll like it enough to buy it. All in all, this is a great, solid game. Thumbs up.
I was mighty impressed with Sled Storm. It looks stunning, it plays superb, it sounds good and the 4 Player multi-tap split-screen racing works a treat. Furthermore, the inclusion of dozens of secret short cuts adds tremedously to the gameplay in a similar way that made Twisted Metal 2 so popular. Sledging along in the lead when another rider lands in front from the mountain above somehow doesn't make you feel cheated... it only makes you want to go back and find out how the hell he got up there in first place!
Gamezilla (Sep 26, 1999)
In a nutshell, Sled Storm is a fun game that’s hard to put down. This game should primarily appeal to race game fans or snowmobile riders, but don’t let that stop you even if you aren’t, as I suckered a few people that don’t normally like these types of games into playing it and they had a blast. With its nice graphics, great sounds, different racing theme, variety of tricks and tracks, and responsive controls, I give this game a score of 88.
Mega Fun (Sep, 1999)
Last but not least verleiht die flotte und detailreiche Grafik-Engine dem Spiel echtes Renn-Feeling.
Video Games (Sep, 1999)
GameSpot (Aug 11, 1999)
If this review sounds more like an infomercial to you skeptical gamers, it's because this writer tried long and hard to find flaws - and they were few and far between. The challenge might be a little high, since you get only three lives to complete a championship. Fortunately, there's a nifty option to turn off automatic catch-up by computer racers, which evens the odds a bit. Some of the forest textures looked flat on some tracks, and it would've been nice to have an option to play your own music CD during a race - but frankly, these complaints hardly affect the bottom line: For any gamer looking for a uniquely fresh adrenaline rush, Sled Storm makes for one very worthy purchase.
80 (Sep 22, 1999)
The Video Game Critic (Jan 29, 2000)
In terms of scenery, there's not much to see, but snowy ramps and shortcuts can be found all over the place. You can even catch some air and perform trick combinations. In addition to off-road tracks, there are also motorcross-style courses which tend to be more repetitive than fun. The music is dominated by Rob Zombie and his omni-present "Dragula", but I guess it could be worse, right? No, not really! Sled Storm isn't spectacular, but it does provide competitive winter racing action, especially with multiple players.
