The single-player game just doesn't add much. To underline the point, the only moderately interesting thing in this game is to play with friends. It's unfortunate really, because Antz was a pretty good film with a sophistication that belied a children's animated feature. It didn't deserve to be franchised in such a boring way. I don't think a whole lot of Antz merchandising exists, so really, how many little kids will be really into a PG-rated movie that came out four years ago? If there were no other PS2 games for kids out there, it wouldn't be such a big deal, but there are other kids games. Don't get stuck with this one.

Antz Extreme Racing isn't a 'true' kart racer in that only about half of the action takes place in vehicles. Other times you're riding the backs of bugs, flat-out running, or being 'extreme' on the back of a leafboard.
Boring, annoying, aggravating are the words I use to describe this game. The object of a game is to be entertaining or challenging, this game lacks all motivation to play it. Even a child would be quickly tired of such antics, and most kids probably don’t even remember Antz. They remember A Bugs Life, of course, because it’s on ABC every other day, and Empire seems to be attempting to pool from the misconception. My advice would be to not buy this game, and if you see someone at the store looking at it…make sure you do the right thing.
Worth Playing (Oct, 2002)
Unless this game is being targeted for the five-and-under group I see no redeeming value in it whatsoever. The races, while varied, get old quickly, and the sloppy game play mechanics coupled with the dreadful audio/visual presentation relegates this game to the bottom of the junk heap. I take the mere existence of this game as a personal affront to everything pure and decent about the videogame industry. “Antz Extreme Racing”, pfff.

It doesn't really matter, anyway. This is a poor excuse for a kart racer, and a poor excuse for a game. Everything else seems so much sweeter in comparison. A good punch to the face would be like candy to me.
