In the end, Barbarian can easily lay claim to the fact that it's probably the best console publication that Titus has ever released. A sometimes-enthralling mix of swords and sorcery and old-fashioned beat-em-ups, the Saffire-developed fighter definitely deserves a closer look. But if you like your combat engines tighter and aren't drawn into those pretty (and they are pretty) visuals, then Barbarian may not be your cup of tea. However, for those of you who are willing to take chances on a game you've probably never heard, or aren't particularly picky when it comes to fighting game mechanics you should invite a couple of friends over, break out the yummies, and give it a try. I'm willing to bet that you'd be in for pleasant little surprise.
