CM5 is chock full of challenges; challenges that drive you to tinker with a wonderfully straightforward training system. Of course, not all of the headaches that torment real managers feature here. You'll never have to deal with your players battling each other on the pitch, or your chairman slagging off your fans from the comfort of a Spanish brothel. Instead, CM5 focuses on statistical believability, accurate cause-and-effect management and creating an immersive
alternate reality peopled with thousands of footballing personalities. And it succeeds. But sadly, where other management games turn on the style (Total Club Manager
) and beautifully presented interaction elements (LMA Manager
), Champ relies on its historical strength - statistics, statistics, and even more statistics. Which would be fine, except CM5 lacks the crucial foundation of a vast database of players.
