Cheat Code Central (Oct 02, 2006)
NBA 2K7 is one of the best basketball games currently available. Although it does have a number of shortcomings, the total package is enough to satisfy any true fan of the sport. With the Signature Style re-creating players' styles on the game, the immersive Association mode, and the nearly impeccable online play, NBA 2K7 is the sports title to get this basketball season.

Just know this: NBA 2K7 is an awesome game and has won my heart as my favourite basketball sim. It has a long learning curve and the graphics don't come close to pushing the PS2 to its limits, but you can forget about all that when you lose yourself in its smooth, rewarding gameplay and its excellent match analysis presentation. It feels like you are playing basketball - you need to concentrate but it's fun at the same time. I wouldn't stretch to saying it's as good at basketball as Pro Evo is at football, but the similarities are there and it's still as close as you are going to get to the NBA on your PS2. This game will last you ages, at the very least until NBA 2K8 hits the stores. It hasn't been given a perfect score because it still has a modest amount of improvements to make for next year's release, but I already want to play on it again - right now - so that's what I'm going to do… and that's gotta mean something, right? See you on the courts!

I’m happy with how this game turned out. I saw some weird things like arms passing through players, and some weird things happening with the animations at times (odd collision issues) but overall, the game plays quite well. It’s not hugely different from what we saw last year, but the advancements that were made were solid enough. NBA fans that own current gen consoles can hold out a little longer before they upgrade. NBA 2K7 on PS2 gives nice bang for $30 bucks.

This is, and will probably be, the best basketball game ever on the Playstation 2. Technically everything is polished while the number of game modes and options is second to none. Wonderful.

GameSpot (Sep 26, 2006)
Despite being outclassed visually by the Xbox 360 edition, NBA 2K7 holds its own from a gameplay standpoint. The 24/7: Next mode isn't likely to be missed by many, and the game still has one of, if not the most full-featured online offerings of any sports game. Those who were expecting a big leap from last year will likely be disappointed, but fans expecting only a slight improvement, or anyone looking for a solid, well-rounded basketball game, will be pleased with NBA 2K7.
