Stuntman will take a little time for you to get into, but the whole concept is blindingly good fun and with the amount of vehicles and parts to unlock it should keep you coming back for more. It's a game about skill, timing and spatial awareness, knowing your machine and what you can do with it. It's a game about a profession that I very much admire. So to Vic Armstrong and all the other Stuntmen out there - I salute you as you continue to entertain us.

There’s a wide range of opinion out there when it comes to Stuntman. Most everyone feels the game is frustrating, however there are those that have become engrossed by this unique gameplay, eventually become addicted to its original concepts at the same time. I am one person who suffered from the “one more time” syndrome where I always said, “oh, this’ll be the time I beat this stunt scene.” When that didn’t happen, I’d still find myself playing, as it was so hard to put down. Then again, there are those who despise the game simply because it is too tedious for their tastes. Nevertheless, Stuntman is an innovative game, and something we don’t see too often. While developers are out there creating games that we’ve all played before, Reflections comes through with a fresh game based off the most intense segment of movie making. Give it a rental if you have to, but you shouldn’t miss out on the thrilling ride Stuntman can be. Now, I’m ready for my Fox television stunt special!

Joining a long list of great driving games that have already hit the shelves this fledgling summer, Stuntman has done the unlikely: It lived up to its hype (well most of it anyway). Blending an array of appreciated elements into one of the most refreshing action-racing hybrids to come along in a good while, the gargantuan playability of Reflections' effort is enough to almost make the excruciating wait times a forgotten memory… almost.

Never in a million years would I have envisioned a game like this. I'm really glad that someone did though, because I would have never known what it was like to be a stuntman without this game. If you have the will and the patience to be a good stuntman, or if you're just looking for something different, Stuntman will satisfy your gaming needs.

The steep challenge of Stuntman will keep even seasoned players on their toes, but lots of supplementary content makes it a package for anyone who likes big movie car chases. Yes, the frame rate isn’t brilliant (though the physics model is), load times are long, and sometimes frustration will get the best of you. But rich environments, awesome music, and the game’s sheer charm outshine all of that. Not without its flaws, Stuntman nevertheless shows that there are still new ideas to be found in the racing genre and brings us the realization of a great new concept.

Stuntman on hartaasti odotettu, omalaatuinen ja poikkeuksellinen kaahailu, jossa on kaikki perusasiat kunnossa. Sen ainutlaatuinen idea jaksaa ilostuttaa, auton käyttäytyminen hipoo realistisuudessaan huippua ja elokuvamainen tunnelma auttaa jaksamaan kokeilemaan onneaan yhä uudestaan ja uudestaan. Toisaalta Stuntman on ärsyttävästä toistosta kärsivä peli, jonka tolkuttoman pitkät latausajat aiheuttavat mahahaavan terveimmälläkin nuorukaisella. Epävarmuus tehtävistä stunteista varmistaa jokaisen kentän kokeilemisen ainakin puolen tusinaa kertaa ennen lopullista onnistumista, ja vaikka palkintona onkin uskomattoman hieno traileri tempusta, ei grafiikka muuten loista missään mielessä. Stuntman on temppuilua.

Atari Stuntman is a great original title. Were it not for the extreme difficulty and load times, which some people won't be able to tolerate, then this game would have scored quite a bit higher. For those with a little patience then this game is well worth a look and bodes very well for Reflections future Playstation 2 titles, including Driver 3.
Game Over Online (Aug 27, 2002)
Personally, I think I gained a greater respect for the training and the Patience that stuntmen and women have in the preparation, practice and follow thru of their craft. This was also augmented by the special feature interviews of the legendary Vic Armstrong and Tommy Trubble McTague, which give additional insight into why and how these fearless individuals do what they do. But aside from the vocational admiration, Stuntman imparts a great sense of the drama and danger involved in carrying off the jaw-dropping stunts that amaze us in the theaters. A unique twist on the racing/driving genre, Stuntman gives players a new side of the driving game they've never experienced. In addition, the movie trailers that feature actual gameplay provide added incentives to perform every stunt with perfection. Unfortunately, the control scheme and the dependency on rote memorization, not to mention the immense difficulty level diminishes the quality of the game.
GameSpot (Jun 24, 2002)
Stuntman is an original game that some will undoubtedly love, but others won't enjoy at all because of its trial-and-error approach and high degree of difficulty. Completing a level in the game will sometimes require you to spend upward of a couple of hours just trying to get through without messing up.
ActionTrip (Jul 16, 2002)
So, Stuntman is a rip roaring fun game, if you get over the massive frustration level, the immense difficulty, which naturally can't be adjusted, and the load times. Other than that, this game is a pure gem. Unfortunately for me, I am unable to rate it very high because these problems did detract a lot from the fun factor of the game for me. But if you love driving sims and don't mind them being tough, then this game is all you. Good luck, and try not to get killed, but if you do, make sure the cameras were rolling.

Game Revolution (Jul, 2002)
Stuntman is all about brief moments of frantic fun, and the lack of a simple "Take-a-drive" mode will likely leave some players hanging a bit. Trading Driver's freedom for much more controlled chaos, the game is teeming with scream-out-loud thrills, but for $50 it doesn't seem like it's doing quite enough.
GameSpy (Jun 24, 2002)
Stuntman is a flawed game based on a potentially great concept. Unfortunately, we don't grade for great concepts. Stuntman is a challenging contest and has some new ideas to offer, but the technical issues and excessively tedious nature of the core gameplay prevent me from recommending a purchase to casual driving fans. There is some enjoyment to be had, but it doesn't seem worth the overly frustrating gameplay and excessive loading. Try before you buy.

GamePro (US) (Jun 24, 2002)
If you're the sort who likes to crack a tough nut, Stuntman has a pair cast in titanium. It's definitely not for everyone, but for the right gamer who can tolerate its flaws and appreciate its rigorous challenges, it's gold. If that's not you, rent it for a quick spin and check out its cool Driver 3 trailer.
