Thunderbolt Games (Jul 18, 2003)
Despite this loss in atmosphere World Championhip Snooker 2003 is a game of the highest standard. In typical Codmasters style an interesting lisence is made into a fantastic experience and really builds on the flawless title that was last years snooker benchmark title. No-one and nothing comes close to re-creating the tactical thinking and tense atmosphere of WCS2003, which could well mean yet another year goes to the Codies. Well done all involved.
Gamestyle (2003)
The fact that World Snooker Championship 2003 is so heavily based in the 'real' makes Gamestyle wonder if this review is even worth writing. Because surely if you are a mad keen snooker fan you will have already bought this? Or will buy it regardless of any faults the game has (and luckily it has very few). If you don't like snooker there is little here that is going to make you play the game - this certainly is not 'Mario Snooker' by any stretch of the imagination. What is here is a very playable and concise (though a little ugly) snooker simulation. If you are a fan of Snooker then buy it, if you're not then you probably haven't read this review anyway.

Despite the outwardly simple premise of snooker, anybody who has seen or played a single frame will know there’s a lot more to it than hitting little coloured balls into each other with a pointy stick. It can be complicated - why else would the players take so long to set up their shots? Yes, some people do interpret the whole affair as boring but whether you are a fan of the real game or not, it’ll be obvious to most of you that World Championship Snooker 2003 is a fine simulation and a tight recreation of the sport.

A very good game let down by graphics which need improving, and the general lack of upgrades to make it worthy a purchase for owners of World Championship Snooker 2002.

Imagine Thunderbirds crossed with The Thing. Or, buy World Championship Snooker 2003 and see it for yourselves! Honestly, we're not sure why the player animations are so hideous and why their faces look like paper plates with photographs Blu-Tacked on top, but if you're anything like us, first of all God help you, and second of all you'll probably spend a good few minutes staring open-mouthed in disgust at the game's least favourable aspect.
