Game Shark (Apr 02, 2008)
Conflict: Denied Ops offers many of the best features that you’ll find in today’s first person shooters, and combines it with an excellent co-op mode and a nice variety of online game modes. The single player action is a little short, but worth a look, even if you don’t have access to a partner or to Xbox Live or the PS Network. If co-op is one of your favorite ways to play, then this title should be in your library.

Conflict: Denied Ops isn’t going to set the world on fire. The game isn’t worthwhile by yourself (mostly because the little friendly AI issues add up and the enemy AI’s annoyance factor is multiplied when you’re dealing with it alone), but if you’re going to play it with a friend, it provides a guilty pleasure.

Conflict: Denied Ops is not going to set the world on fire, no matter how many exploding barrels there are. It will scratch that itch if you’re looking for nothing more than some mindless gunplay mixed with dangerous doses of testosterone, but there’s nothing going on upstairs. And for a tactical shooter, that’s not going to cut it.

Wozu also die Konzeptänderung?

Gamers in need of another run-of-the-mill terrorist hunt won't curse Conflict for sucking away their money and time, but at the same time I can't think of a single person I'd recommend this to. Nobody talks about those serviceable pancakes they made for breakfast the other day, and nobody will be talking about Conflict either.

Denied Ops ditches the third-person perspective and squad-based tactics used in previous Conflict titles in favor of the first-person camera and a team of two testosterone junkies. The story is your standard doomsday Clancy clone where some evil foreigners are plotting to unleash destructive weapons on the free Western world. Your duty as cookie-cutter Special Forces dude is to stop them before they hatch their dastardly plans to wipe out our Wal-Marts while quipping cheesy one-liners that would make Arnold Schwarzenegger choke on his cigar.

Conflict: Denied Ops really feels like a game that was thrown together hastily. The very core of the title sets you up for a pretty cool game, but the unyielding control, bland graphics and poor level design knock the stuffing out of it. To be honest I really got very little real enjoyment out of the game. The multi-player mode offers a bit of fun, but unfortunately it cannot save enough of this title from being a bit of a dud. I thought the game would continue on with some of the older Conflict games history, but this one barely makes it to the finish line.

The most disappointing aspect of Conflict: Denied Ops is that there are actually some really good ideas buried underneath the mechanical, ho-hum gameplay. Unfortunately, the potential of these ideas is never really followed up on or exploited in any way. As a result, Conflict: Denied Ops isn't easy to recommend to even the most hardcore of FPS fans.

Go in with low expectations and an appreciation for simple retro shooters and you won't be disappointed with Conflict: Denied Ops. It isn't a great shooter by any means, but it is a competent one for those of you who don't want a lot of interaction or thinking to interfere with senseless mayhem.

Game Over Online (Mar 07, 2008)
With Denied Ops, the fifth installment in the Conflict series, Pivotal Games chose to focus their attention on co-operative gameplay, and while there are some interesting elements found within the game, they’re overshadowed by a series of poor design choices. Playing through the campaign with a buddy co-operatively is a passable experience and might be worth a rental, but with so many excellent shooters on the market and so many promising ones on the horizon, even that might be pushing it.

Armchair Empire, The (Mar 10, 2008)
Conflict: Denied Ops isn’t a very good game, but it’s hard to actively dislike because the co-op mode can be a lot of fun even if you have to cope with the game’s other failings.

GamesFire (Mar 11, 2008)

PSX Extreme (May 19, 2008)
This game could've used another few months in development so as to iron out the flaws and little glitches, because this entire production feels rushed. If you're looking for an action game to play through with a friend, Army of Two is probably the better choice (even though that's no gem, either), and we really can't recommend Denied Ops for any reason.

Game Chronicles (Mar 11, 2008)
As for my advice on purchasing the game, I would say to wait a month or so and then try to find a copy. If you can’t wait, check your local used game store and save yourself a few bucks. The game is fun, but it doesn’t quite live up to the $50 price tag that a new copy will cost you. If you are in to renting, you may have to rent it for a week or two, but it is worth playing, especially if you have a buddy to team up with.

Worth Playing (Apr 11, 2008)
There are a lot of FPSes that I can recommend to fans of the genre (Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, Metroid Prime: Corruption and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. instantly jump to mind). Conflict: Denied Ops for the PS3, however, is not one of those titles. Even those who are diehard fans of the Conflict game series will have trouble buying into the latest franchise offering.

Cheat Code Central (Feb, 2008)
Conflict: Denied Ops is a lesson in imitation. The goal for any imitator is relatively simple: if you're going to copy someone or something, make sure you at least meet the pre-established bar; even better, leap over that bar and set a new one of your own. It's doubtful the developers set out to reinvent the FPS wheel, but in even the basic areas-controls, story, co-op-the experience comes off as subpar.

Gamer 2.0 (Mar 04, 2008)
Conflict: Denied Ops could have been a huge step in the right direction for the series. With so many years spent on one series, it’s a shame to see Pivotal Games at a lost of how to enhance the future of the franchise. With broken gameplay, dull levels, and bad visuals and sound, the game is an all-around letdown and only diehard fans should warrant picking this game up…perhaps when it hits the bargain bin.

Conflict: Denied Ops is a truly painful game to play, and makes even the worst FPS game look better in comparison. With boring missions, unattractive graphics, and a multiplayer mode that no one seems to be playing, this game doesn’t look to be selling many copies any time soon. If you’re looking for a good FPS for the PS3, look elsewhere.

I don't even want to think about the visuals or audio long enough to talk about them. Both are offensively bad, from the Xbox-quality graphics and level detail to the frequent and pointless use of stereotypical comments and ham-fisted injections of "edgy" cussing. Even if the entire game was meant to be taken as satire, it still comes off as shoddily executed. Don't play it. Don't rent it. For the love of all that is good and holy in the world don't buy it. In fact, it's probably best to just pretend like Denied Ops never existed.

UOL Jogos (Feb 19, 2008)

Conflict Denied Ops is a mess of a game in all senses of the term. Its gameplay is at least one generation behind the competition, its presentation is like a collection of every graphical effect thrown into a mixing pot and poured onto the screen and the online implementation leaves a lot to be desired. Sadly, it joins a growing list of next-gen shooters that must be avoided at all costs.

IGN (Feb 18, 2008)
Do yourself a favor and ignore this game. The appeal of a co-op experience is oftentimes strong, but there is essentially no merit to Conflict: Denied Ops. It offers nothing unique and has almost no production value. Shooters are a dime a dozen these days and most have this game beat at every turn.

Gamernode (Feb 21, 2008)
While the previous Conflict games were saved by some entertaining multiplayer, Denied Ops has no such luck. Multiplayer boils down to short and boring co-op or deathmatches in the single player levels, and that's it. Conflict: Denied Ops is a cookie cutter FPS game which uses dough well past its expiration date. If you've played every other current FPS on the market give it a shot; if you haven't, there's much better gaming available.

GamingExcellence (Mar 24, 2008)
Why Pivotal Games would switch their mildly enjoyable third-person series to the over saturated first-person market is anyone’s guess. Denied Ops suffers from abysmal graphics, awful audio, and incredibly low production values. I’m running out of ways to describe just how awful this one is. Not even worth a look if it’s in the budget bin.

1UP (Feb 25, 2008)
The fundamental mechanics of Denied Ops are passable, and enjoyable with a friend. It's just a shame that, while Pivotal Games' shooters are improving with each installment, they have yet to abandon their "America, f*** yeah!" mentality. Rent it to scoff at the absurdities, and play through it with a friend for some fun co-op.

There's nothing more to say about this, really. It really makes me wonder, when I slide a game like this into my PS3 if the developers really actually have their hearts on making games. There's no obvious sign here that they do. I went in with limited expectations and still found myself disappointed with the experience. It was honestly hard just to convince myself to play it so that I could write this review. Don't play this game. Don't even look at it in the store. It's just not worth your time.
