    Mech combat meets street brawling in a lightning-fast weapon-intensive arena-based Battle Royal. As a member of "Marz," a Robotic Special Forces unit, players are thrust into the pilot's seat of a giant mech known as a Virtuaroid (VR), an immensely capable machine built specifically for combat. Blasting through a variety of missions on various planets, players will set out to defeat enemy VRs, locate new areas, attack enemy locations and convoys, defend allied bases, and fight alongside other VRs in explosive 2-on-2 battles.

    Along the way, rival characters will appear, gigantic boss enemies will attack, and headquarters continuously keep gamers updated on their position through 2-way communications. With strategy and skill, gamers will ultimately discover the true identity of the mysterious enemy forces that have infiltrated Mars and wreaked havoc on the solar system.

    SEGA ANNOUNCES VIRTUAL ON MARZ FOR PLAYSTATION 2

    SAN FRANCISCO - (April 8, 2003) - SEGA® of America, Inc. today announced "Virtual On Marz™," a blazing-fast mech combat game exclusively for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system.

    "Virtual On Marz" casts gamers as a member of "Marz," a Robotic Special Forces unit charged with keeping peace in the galaxy. Players are thrust into the pilot's seat of a giant mechanized battle Virtuaroid as they blast through dozens of missions, defend allied bases, attack enemy convoys and fight alongside other Virtuaroids in explosive 2-on-2 battles.

    "Virtual On Marz" brings home the same heart-stopping thrills that made the "Virtual On™" series a classic, and ups the ante with more than 40 characters, a deep story mode, intense head-to-head multiplayer action and dozens of unlockable surprises. "Virtual On" experts will be able to take advantage of a new "Virtual Twin Stick" control scheme, recreating the legendary arcade "Twin Stick" controls in addition to a new easy-to-use pick-up-and-play setup for beginners.

    Corporate crime has plunged the Planet Mars into an explosive war zone overrun with towering mech warriors known as Virtuaroids. As a member of the MARZ Special Investigation Unit, you'll pilot your war machine into the heart of intense battles unleashing a hail of grenades, air mines, lasers, and missiles on the aggressive enemies. These enormous sword and mace-wielding robots stand 49-feet tall and are surprisingly fast. Headquarters will constantly update your position with information and warnings as you stalk and defeat enemy Virtuaroids and gigantic bosses throughout your missions. You'll also be called upon to attack enemy locations and convoys, defend allied bases and convoys, and fight alongside other Virtuaroids in battle. Ultimately, you must restore peace on the planet by discovering the true identity of the mysterious forces that have infiltrated Mars. Good luck!
