This game struck a chord with me, and I imagine it will do the same to a ton of other gamers too. It's violent, funny and more fun than almost any other game I can remember. If killing zombies sounds good to you then you should definitely pick up this game.

Dead Rising 2 is not a perfect game by any means, but it has improved in every area over the original and is addictively fun to play. Whether you’re going solo or with a friend, there’s plenty to do in Fortune City and despite having put in plenty of time on the game there is still so much more to explore. Even if you’re tired of the constant stream of zombie games, it’s hard to pass up on Dead Rising 2, which provides such a unique zombie experience and a decent storyline to boot.
GameSpot (Sep 24, 2010)
Dead Rising 2 delicately balances wanton destruction with thoughtful objectives. Just about every aspect of this game is entertaining, ensuring that you're having a good time whether you're fighting psychopaths, rescuing survivors, or just trying to find hidden secrets. The weapon-creation system continually rewards you with unique ways to kill your brain-starved foes, but it's the tight structure that provides the main draw. Because you're continually pushed from one objective to the next, you don't have time to dwell on small problems. It would have been nice to be able to put a waypoint on your map, and the driving controls are still horrible, but it's worth putting up with these issues just to experience the brutal joy that is buried within. There are a lot of zombie games out there, but this game proves that killing brain-dead foes can offer more than just mindless fun. Dead Rising 2 is a great sequel to one of the most original open-world games available.

Ultimately, sure, Dead Rising 2 has annoying technical flaws and uninteresting boss battles. But the ability to jump into a friend's game while wearing a Borat-inspired mankini and a Servbot helmet with a lawnmower blade strapped on top help you quickly forget those problems.

Dead Rising 2 is worth checking out; there's the humour that you can find back in the characters, the storyline, the bosses and most of all the combinable weapons, the original way of playing where getting killed sucks but also fun as you return more powerful, and of course the fact that you get to kill hundreds of zombies in very creative ways. Those looking for a fun game that you won't grow tired of quickly will certainly find their thing with this sequel.

Dead Rising 2's replayability is a testament to the fully realized burg that is Fortune City. I want to meet more nutjob Psychopaths; I want to try more games of chance scattered around the casinos; I want to spend an afternoon shirking my in-game responsibilities to create new tools of destruction with my hard-earned Combo Cards. More than anything, though, I want to see where Capcom takes Dead Rising next.

Dead Rising 2 is a brilliant yet challenging game that manages to stay fresh through a constantly evolving character and the sheer unpredictability of the zombie hordes. The addition of over the top combo weapons has made zombie killing more fun than it has ever been before, which more than makes up for the game’s little frustrations.
PlayFrance (Sep 24, 2010)

Again, Dead Rising 2 has issues. It’s not the smoothest game and it can feel like the last one, however that doesn’t mean a thing when the game’s this much fun. Using a car battery and a Street Fighter mask to electrocute the undead and a set of knives and a pair of boxing gloves to make Wolverine claws are all great times. Watching Chuck get covered in blood as he slays thousands of zombies, changing outfits so that one minute you’re in a toddler clothes with a LEGO head and the next you’re in a sundress, and listening to completely whacked out boss stories – that’s what I remember about Dead Rising 2. Any issue the game might have just falls to the backburner.
Thunderbolt Games (Oct 24, 2010)
But the similarities are never an issue if you can handle its whimsical game design, because the core Dead Rising experience is still fantastic. Racking up thousands of kills against the undead is a joy, and when you throw in multiple variations of unconventional weapon combinations it only improves the experience. There are still some issues with hideously long loading times and certain impracticalities, particularly when putting survivors into the safe room, but the game design presents an oddly satisfying change from the norm that can be easy to love and hate at the same time. If you can coincide with it then Dead Rising 2 is a joyous zombie slaughter.

Dead Rising 2 as a whole is a game that’s addictive, frustrating, short, repetitive, and loads of fun when it’s doing everything right. But it’s so unevenly paced that I can’t say that you’re a fool for not buying it. But at the same time I can say you probably won’t regret it. The multiplayer is fun and a nice addition but won’t switch you over from that other multiplayer menagerie of undeath, and the single player game while short, is addictive, and provides enough replay value to justify a purchase. So pick it up if only because it never gets old running through a crowd of zombies wearing a pair of flaming Moose antlers.
Made2Game (Sep 24, 2010)
Overall, Dead Rising 2 is a fun game to play, though it’s certainly not going to win any awards for originality or its storyline.
