I’ve got to say if you’re a fan of the previous Fight Night titles or even boxing in general, you really should pick up this title. FNR4 is the most realistic video game portrayal of the sweet science to date as well as being incredibly enjoyable to play. It has improved upon the previous Fight Nights in every way imaginable, even after the series switched developers from EA Chicago to EA Canada. But as you can tell, this new team definitely knew what they were doing, so make sure to break yourself away from UFC 2009 Undisputed long enough to check out Fight Night Round 4.

Fight Night Round 4:stä on vaikea löytää huonoja puolia. Fight Night Round 4 on loistava nyrkkeilypeli. Seuraava osa kuitenkin ilmestyy näillä tiedoilla vasta vuonna 2011, joten Round 4:n parissa on aikaa viihtyä.
Game Revolution (Jul 02, 2009)
Round 4 is all about revolution through detail. Its incredibly accurate physics system doesn’t just set a new bar for boxing games, but for all games across all genres.
1UP (Jun 23, 2009)
The team at EA Canada have completed a very difficult task: Fight Night Round 4 not only matches its predecessor, but improves upon it and has reclaimed it's title as the best boxing game in the world.
That Gaming Site (Sep 30, 2009)
Fight Night Round 4 has great staying power as a fighting game and as a series. It may take some time to get used to because it is so different from Round 3, but this game looks and plays great. It's nice to see that EA Canada didn't flop on this one.

As a boxing fan Fight Night Round 4 delivers in all the areas that I was looking for it to improve on. It exceeds Fight Night Round 3 graphically by so much that it’s amazing to think how beautiful everyone thought Round 3 was in 2006. The fluid total punch control takes some getting used to, but turns the game into a more clear simulation of the sweet science instead of just a button masher, and the various modes add depth and value to the game making it not just a must have for boxing fans, but a must have for sports fans.
UOL Jogos (Jun 26, 2009)
Despite a steep learning curve for newcomers and the odd disappointing feature, Fight Night Round 4 is the ultimate boxing game and one that revels in both the skill and brutality of the Sport of Kings.
Daily Game (Jul 12, 2009)
Still, put all these elements together, and Fight Night Round 4 is a solid sequel that delivers a TKO. The game not only shows itself to be worthy of a purchase as a showcase for your console, but also for the gameplay it delivers. If you like boxing and you play video games, Fight Night Round 4 is a must have.
GamePro (US) (Jun 23, 2009)
Fight Night Round 4 lacks some of the wow factor of its predecessor, but it builds upon the strengths of Round 3 and corrects most of its weaknesses. Three years is a long time to wait for a sports sequel, but Round 4 is an excellent and necessary upgrade for all Fight Night fans, and it reasserts the series as the (relatively) uncontested titleholder across all simulation-style boxing games.

If you're into boxing you're going to love Fight Night Round 4. The physics-based fighting is simply brilliant, the career mode will last you an age and the online functionality is solid. If you're not into boxing Round 4 is simple to learn, so you could still become the next Mike Tyson or Muhammad Ali with a little practice. It's not perfect, mainly down to a slightly soulless career mode, but it's still a significant step up over Round 3 and more or less an essential purchase.
Thunderbolt Games (Jun 29, 2009)
Fight Night Round 4 has raised the bar from the previous instalment. The new and improved mechanics are fantastic, adding some much needed depth and strategy to the game and combining it with intuitive controls that anyone should be able to get to grips with. Whether you’re playing online or off, the art of playing the game is sure to please, it’s just a shame it comes undone when you have to deal with needlessly confusing and impotent menu systems that could have been easily streamlined for better use. Regardless, if you’re looking to play with friends or take on the world there aren’t many better fighters out there. This is a sure-fire knockout.
GameDaily (Jun 25, 2009)
On the negative side, the game (despite a speed increase over previous installments) still runs a bit on the slow side, and most of the punches feel like love taps. We also suggest you crack the knuckles before playing, since maneuvering the left stick to move and the right stick to throw punches (in combination with the triggers) cramps the hands. Otherwise, Fight Night Round 4 is a beautiful and bloodthirsty representation of boxing, as well as a superb visual showpiece for either console.
It’s hard to reinvent a sport that’s…well, already a sport. But, developer EA Canada has done a marvelous job with bringing a focus to the fighting that brings out the sweet science.
AceGamez (2009)
With the features around the boxing polished but lacking in personality, it's left to the in-ring action to provide the canvas onto which blood and sweat are poured to create images that will live long in the memory, and without doubt this is where the game's mastery lies. Fight Night Round 4 manages to deliver boxers and fights so convincing that they're realer than Evander 'The Real Deal' Holyfield, and at almost every point where the game could have become shallow and repetitive, its subtleties shine through to such an extent that you don't need to look at any other real world fighting games to find the greatest - the champ is undoubtedly here.
90 (Jul 11, 2009)
GameSpy (Jun 25, 2009)
While it's not without its flaws, Fight Night Round 4 is still one of the most entertaining games of the year, no matter what gaming category you think it belongs in.
GameZone (Jun 25, 2009)
EA Sports has managed to turn the fight game into the science it has long been proclaimed to be through the use of the new control mechanics and counterpunch system. Graphically, the game is stunning, and while there are a few stumbles along the way, nothing truly detracts from the strategic enjoyment one gets from this game. This is a wonderful step-up for the franchise.
GameTrailers (Jun 30, 2009)
The latest Fight Night pushes hard to deliver a game that feels realistic and authentic to the sport while also being extremely playable, and offering plenty of staying power. Even if boxing as a sport barely piques your interest, this game delivers tension, drama, and punishment to rival the best fighting games out there. If you enjoy a good one-on-one battle, Round 4 definitely deserves your attention.
PSX Extreme (Jul 02, 2009)
When it comes down to it all, Fight Night Round 4 is without question the best boxing game you'll ever play. Everything from the mechanics, to the value, the fun, and to the stunning visuals will not disappoint fans of both this game franchise, as well as fans of the sport. There is a ton of things to do and that helps keep this game's replay value high, making it well worth the price-tag of $60. Go out there and buy this.

Fight Night Round 4 has evolved positively compared to its predecessor. The controls feel very intuitive, the game seems less scripted, the AI made big improvements and the gameplay is very much ok. I doubt the game will appeal to more people than UFC 2009 Undisputed but this is of course also due to the small market of boxing fans. However, if you're looking for a pure boxing title where realism and depth are central then this is your game.
IGN (Jun 23, 2009)
Aside from the modes, you’ll find the best boxing experience in gaming in the ring. Punches sound and look great, fighters move fantastically well with muscles flexing and blood flowing and spattering from cuts, and if you want a boxer that isn’t included in the original roster of more than 50 (including Mike Tyson for the first time since Punch-Out!!), you can use Photo GameFace to put them (as well as yourself) in the game. As if that wasn’t enough, there’s a cool replay editor that lets you create clips of you rendering people’s faces unrecognizable. I have my issues with Fight Night Round 4 – and so will you – but when you get down to it FNR4 is just a great all-around videogame experience.

So if you want to get your revenge on Manny Pacquiao with a younger, hungrier Ricky Hatton. If you find Anthony Mundine incredibly annoying and want to shut him up once and for all. Or if you just want a tough, great looking game. It's time to step into the ring and show us what you’ve got.
Vandal Online (Jul 03, 2009)
PlayStation Universe (Jul 10, 2009)
Fight Night Round 4 undoubtedly brings boxing games to the next level. The boxers actually feel a bit different, the strategy and mastery is more complex, and the controls and counterpunch system mostly have a satisfying flavor rather than a frustrating one. The fights can be tests of endurance, like real boxing, so those who prefer a more casual or beginner-friendly game should check out the demo first. For those interested in the simulation of boxing and are willing to put in the time to get good at it, Fight Night Round 4 puts up an impressive performance.
Giant Bomb (Jun 23, 2009)
Some of the things surrounding the boxing in Fight Night Round 4 are kind of annoying, especially if you're planning on primarily playing the game by yourself. But the fighting itself is fantastic and the online feels sharp enough to substitute for local opposition. Provided you haven't completely shifted any love you might have for boxing over to mixed martial arts already, you'll probably love it.
Game Positive (Jul 09, 2009)
Fight Night Round 4 is obviously a game that was developed with a focus on the action between the ropes. The boxing is excellent, and provides an adrenaline rush that can be appreciated even by those who have almost no interest in the sport. It is disappointing that the legacy mode is shallow, because single player enthusiasts will likely spend most of their time there. That said, the superficial nature of Fight Night's single player game modes is overshadowed by excellent presentation values, great multiplayer, and absolutely stellar boxing.
Good Game (Jul 13, 2009)
Well, giant minigame is an oxymoron, but that’s what it is. As good as the last one was though, this is better. I’m giving it 8.
GamersGlobal (Jul 09, 2009)

TotalVideoGames (TVG) (Jun 29, 2009)
Fight Night Round 4 is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world as far as boxing sims are concerned and arguably the most visually stunning sports game on the market. While a distinct lack of content in the single-player game and some fairly repetitive boxer AI does tarnish an otherwise faultless offering, it's still a must have for boxing fans and well worth a punt for anyone else with a passing interest.
GameSpot (Jun 29, 2009)
Fight Night Round 4's greatest strength is that while it's accessible and relatively easy for newcomers, it can also be challenging and rewarding for pugilism perfectionists. It's unfortunate that online matches are being dominated by players who are mindlessly spamming punches rather than fighting realistically, because on those occasions that you do meet someone who's playing with some finesse it really is a lot of fun. Stepping into Fight Night Round 4's ring is definitely recommended if you have any interest in the sport whatsoever, just be aware that not everyone you come up against will be fighting in the spirit of the Queensbury rules.
Good Game (Jul 13, 2009)
We recommend the campaign mode to learn, but Fight Night has always been one of the best games to have a few mates around to play. 7.5 from me.
