Good Game (Jun 22, 2009)
The game also has multiplayer which is ridiculously exciting for a fanboy like me, but we weren’t able to check it out with our offline codebut we’re tol dit’s a series of maps, where you compete for cash. There’s not much else to say about the game really – it’s pretty short, it’s over before I finished my sandwich under 6 and a half hours and some of the enemies can get a bit grindy but this is a great game and it’s totally for the fans. I’m giving it 8.5/10 Rubber chickens.

Ghostbusters on pelkkänä toimintapelinäkin toimiva paketti.
Play Magazine (Jun 12, 2009)
The gang’s all here—well, except for Louis. Terminal Reality might have created the only true Ghostbusters game, ever, but it’s about as good as we could have asked for (could have used more Murray, though). Who you gonna call? Atari for some DLC.
Gamernode (Jun 16, 2009)
Honestly, I'm surprised by how well Ghostbusters turned out. I expected a game that would have solid writing, but gameplay that got boring or was never fun. Instead, we have a game that not only has spectacular writing, but also very good gameplay. It's fun, it's entertaining, it's funny, and at times spooky. In short, Ghostbusters: The Video Game is everything that something with the Ghostbusters name should be. If you're a fan of the franchise, you definitely need to play the game.
85 (Jun 17, 2009)
Nonetheless, Ghostbusters: The Video Game manages to recapture the look and atmosphere of the movies so incredibly well, that it's impossible not to give it a hearty recommendation. The story remains suitably compelling and entertaining throughout, but it's the intuitive controls and strength of the ghostbusting itself that'll keep you playing. It's by no means perfect with the odd glitch or instance of slowdown cropping up now and again, and some in-game dialogue occasionally repeats itself, but none of it matters though, because the fact is that Ghostbusters: The Video Game is a real contender for best movie to game transition of all time. If you're a Ghostbusters fan, you need this. It's that simple. In conclusion, if this were a Twinkie, it would be a Twinkie thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds. And that's one big Twinkie.
IGN UK (Jun 10, 2009)
This is where things get difficult then. Minus those Ghostbusters trimmings, Terminal Reality has crafted a blisteringly energetic, entertaining experience. It might lack variety on a basic level but it’s still engagingly solid, if not out-and-out spectacular. As a Ghostbusters game though, its pitch-perfect authenticity makes this a practically irresistible proposition for anyone old enough to remember shoving a shoe box on their back and chasing the cat around with the Hoover nozzle. So where does that leave us then? Easy – thoroughly non-committal. There’s enough here to entertain newcomers and diehards will likely to love it. Pick your camp and head .5 in either direction. Meanwhile, we’ll sit right in the middle - hey, there’s a Zuul in our fridge and we’re not afraid to use it.
games xtreme (Jun 15, 2009)
Overall, Ghostbusters is a really good game. It will last you around 8-10 hours and even more if you dive into the multiplayer aspect of the game. It plays well and capturing ghosts is the highlight of the game. There is a lot of fan-service in the game and you’ll be chuckling at some of the comments and banter between the team. A solid performance and the best way to do a movie-based game: don’t bother to shoe-in the movie, make your own story and forget the events of the film.

IGN Australia (Jun 12, 2009)
As stated in the intro, Ghostbusters won't change the way you think about videogame design, but it will change the way you think about licensed games. The gameplay isn't brilliant, but this is a loving third installment to a cherished franchise, and we thoroughly enjoyed the journey.
The Video Game Critic (Jun 27, 2009)
The game is not glitch free, and I actually had to restart it at one point. The game saves frequently, but I never spotted an indicator, which made me extremely nervous about quitting a partway through a level. How hard is it to display "saving" on the screen anyway?? The game has a multi-player mode, but it's on-line only (boo!). I can nitpick, but at its core the game succeeds in fleshing out the Ghostbusters world and immersing you in it. Movie-licensed games don't have the best track record, but Ghostbusters: The Video Game is consistently enjoyable.
1UP (Jun 16, 2009)
In the spirit of full disclosure, I must confess that I played the game on "casual" and enjoyed the ride, but feel free to prove your e-manliness by taking on the hardest difficulty level. The combat is good, but I didn't really want to play it where I would most likely die a lot. As a Ghostbusters fan, this game came through by delivering an entertaining experience with plenty of laughs and just the right amount of action.
Game Watcher (Jun 18, 2009)
Recapturing the look and atmosphere of the movies to perfection, it’s impossible not to be completely endeared by Ghostbusters: The Video Game. The narrative penned by Aykroyd and Ramis remains suitably compelling and entertaining throughout and the strength of the gameplay mechanics aided by tight, intuitive controls will keep you playing. It’s might not be perfect with the odd glitch or instance of minor slowdown cropping up now and again, but none of these tiny niggles matter, because Ghostbusters: The Video Game is otherwise superb. So, cast your doubts aside, because the Ghostbusters are back and they’re most definitely here to save the day once again.
GameZone (Jun 12, 2009)
You don’t have to be a fan of the movies to really enjoy Ghostbusters: The Video Game but if you are you are in for a very pleasant surprise. Sure, the game isn’t perfect but there are more than enough good qualities to make this a game worth buying.
81 (Jun 12, 2009)
Overall Ghostbusters is a fantastic game, sure it has its flaws but if you look by these you will see a game which represents the film wonderfully. Any fan of the cult series will love this game and I can guarantee you that if you splash out on Ghostbusters then Busting WILL make you feel good.
Game Positive (Jun 28, 2009)
By the time you have saved the world and handed the city its bill, you will have spent roughly seven hours with Ghostbusters, though the game is substantially lengthened by its multiplayer component. If you're a fan of the Ghostbusters movies, this title is a must buy. For those who were born a little too late to catch the craze, the game is still worth your time, but you may want to check out the movies first. While the core gameplay does nothing outstanding, Ghostbusters: The Video Game captures the atmosphere and comedy of the movies well enough to satisfy anybody with even the slightest interest in catching ghosts.
Good Game (Jun 22, 2009)
In the game extras, Dan Akroyd says that this is the 3rd Ghostbusters movie, and you can see there’s lots of love gone into the script and art design. It wouldn’t be the same without the original cast, and our only complaint is that it’s short, 8/10 from me.
UOL Jogos (Jun 19, 2009)
GameCell UK (Jun, 2009)
As stated before I was pretty excited about the prospect of this game and although I've had a few gripes I still think it has succeeded to deliver. I have repeatedly come back for one more go to progress a little further, as it’s a pleasure to play, rather than a chore to complete. My kids have loved playing it too and the "normal/experienced" skill level has the difficulty balanced just about right. Not too easy to breeze through, but easy enough so when you work out a ghost's weak points you'll get them in the next few tries. So if you're a fan of the series it’s not a bad blast. 25 years on and the Ghostbusters are still looking good!
Meristation (Jun 08, 2009)
IGN (Jun 08, 2009)
If you dug the movies, there's no reason that you should be disappointed with Ghostbusters: The Video Game. There are some moments that cause the game to stumble, but you're getting a new tale in the Ghostbusters canon, fun gameplay, a whole bunch of stuff to destroy, and some cool ghosts to scan. I felt that the game's ending was a bit flat and the romantic interest was forced, but Ghostbusters is a hell of a ride.
GamesRadar (Jun 15, 2009)
Simultaneously a new Ghostbusters movie and an enjoyable videogame. Rough around the edges, but the superb scripting and unique humour make this a breath of fresh air.
Gameplayer (Australia) (Jun 15, 2009)
Ghostbusters: The Video Game does not quite have the charm of the films, nor does it have the depth and technical prowess of either system’s AAA titles, but we’re all better off for its existence. When it’s on form the game is a thrilling blend of pretty visuals, great physics and challenging action and when it loses its way it still never tramples on your childhood memories, providing the voices, the music and the icons that’ll keep fans happily busting on to the very end. Here’s hoping that Terminal Reality’s effort inspires more revivals of this kind in the near future.
GameSpy (Jun 16, 2009)
No need to wrap this up with some maudlin "they did the movie justice, gosh dangit," speech. Ghostbusters is a fun, accessible game, whether you're a fan of the films or not. It's also the best game based on a film franchise since The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. And it's got one up on that game, anyway, since Vin Diesel is nowhere in sight.
GameDaily (Jun 12, 2009)
None of these complaints, however, should prevent you from playing the game. Ghostbusters, despite its faults, is a wonderful journey through one of Hollywood's most beloved franchises, complete with funny dialogue, addictive shooting and buckets of slime. It's the closest you'll probably come to actually saving Manhattan from evil, aside from those imaginary adventures in your backyard.
Cynamite (Jun 18, 2009)
Trotzdem: Ich hab schon viel miesere Lizenzspiele gesehen!
Thunderbolt Games (Jun 24, 2009)
There are some presentational issues that let it down, some of the weapons are a little underused, there are large chunks of inactivity and it’s relatively short at just over five hours, but that isn’t quite enough to stop this from being one of the best movie tie-ins in recent memory. They came, they saw, they kicked its ass!
GamePro (US) (Jun 15, 2009)
Like Goonies and Back to the Future, Ghostbusters is one of those classic film franchises that a lot of gamers remember fondly from their childhood. From Cameron's review, it sounds like the developers did a good job of keeping things faithful but as was my suspicion after getting a couple of preview demos, the ghostbusting gameplay gets a little repetitive after a while. Still, the multiplayer modes and nostalgia factor are enough to convince me to play it.
PSX Extreme (Jun 25, 2009)
Overall, Ghostbusters is a really solid game that's worth your time. It may be straightforward and linear, but it is still extremely satisfying and a lot of fun - and ultimately, fun is what makes or breaks a game. The story is a bit on the short side, lasting about 6-7 hours, but the multiplayer events are cool and there is downloadable content in the works as we speak. Even Dan Akroyd has gone on record to say that the game is essentially the third movie in the franchise, and seeing as how both him and Ramis wrote this script too, fans of the movies should expect nothing less than solid quality here. Even though this doesn't tie-in to a Ghostbusters movie, this is still the best movie-licensed game I've played in a very, very long time...maybe ever. Publishers and developers, take note.
AceGamez (Jun, 2009)
If you have any sort of enthusiasm for Ghostbusters: The Video Game then you can be sure that Terminal Reality have done nothing so wrong that you should be in the least discouraged from checking it out. It looks good enough, it sounds very fine indeed, and for its short lifespan it plays through in entertaining fashion. There are problems and technical shortcomings, but the overall experience is satisfying enough that it will not likely disappoint. As the famous music winds up and the bold red-and-white motif fades to black, all that's left to ask yourself is the obvious. Who you gonna call?
Vandal Online (Jun 11, 2009)
Cheat Code Central (Jun, 2009)
Ghostbusters: The Video Game largely accomplishes what it set out to do by telling a humorous tale and bringing fans back into the fold on the franchise's 25th anniversary. The game is full of fun elements, sports an in-depth multiplayer component, and is loaded with fan-service. While I think this is a solid title for anyone interested in action gaming and solid storytelling, it is certainly not a must-buy. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. Besides, where else can you blast Class 5 Full Roaming Vapors?
77 (Jul 06, 2009)
Ghostbusters: The Video Game is a good movie game. Charming, funny and bringing forth perfectly that unique atmosphere that fans will buy the game for. That the gameplay isn't always offering as much depth is something we gladly take along in exchange. A very relaxing game for everyone!
3D Juegos (Jun 19, 2009)
Ghostbusters offers some unique gameplay, an amusing story and a lot of fun for fans. Presentation issues hold back the PlayStation 3 version, but otherwise it's the best Ghostbusters game ever.
PlayStation Universe (Jun 16, 2009)
Despite our negativity, we wouldn't want you to go away thinking Ghostbusters isn't worth playing. That would be doing the game a grave injustice. While we’d be lying if we said that Ghostbusters will be a title that we’ll still be talking about in the coming months, it's worth letting you know that we did have fun while it lasted and its subject matter provided a refreshing alternative to fighting soldiers and zombies. The ghost trapping mechanic is enjoyable, and the array of mischievous ghosts are fun to do battle against. With its familiar soundtrack and voices, plus some generally impressive visuals, fans of the movies will enjoy Ghostbusters: The Video Game even if they do get a little bored before the end.
GameSpot (Jun 16, 2009)
Ghostbusters The Video Game has some drawbacks, but those sour notes can't spoil a game that, by and large, tickles the funny bone and hits all the notes a Ghostbusters game should. If you're a fan of the films, or just like a little bit of supernatural fun, there's no need to glance about furtively when picking up your copy. Instead, hold your head high, confident that you've spent your money on a fun game worthy of its beloved license.
75 (Jun 25, 2009)
Hellbored (Jun 28, 2009)
A solid cast added to a recognizable storyline in familiar surroundings will let you almost share and feel the ghost busting experience. Wonderfully created cut scenes and down time in the HQ adds intensity and authenticity to that experience - such as Vigo’s ugly picture from the second movie that spits threats if you get too close. One for fans and newcomers alike, Ghostbusters is a game that won’t take an age to play and seemed not to live up fully to its high expectations. Still it justifiably never takes itself too seriously and as a result was still a pleasurable experience. Different from the rest of the herd, it begs to be played and deserves to be enjoyed.
71 (Jun 19, 2009)
Game Arena (Jun 18, 2009)
I'm not sure whether this makes the game worth a purchase, but it's certainly made me want to watch the movies again - and isn't that what all good merchandising does? If you're not a Ghostbusters fan this is a definite skip - non-fans might want to try a rental first. Now if only I could get the damn theme song out of my head.
Teletext (Jun, 2009)
It's nostalgia first and game second but you'd have to really hate Ghostbusters to not enjoy this tie-in.
NZGamer (Jun 12, 2009)
If you like Ghostbusters and are hankering to participate in all new adventures (written by Dan Aykroyd) with the original team and like the idea of taking direct control of a ghost take-down, Ghostbusters is definitely worth checking out. As a game alone however, ignoring the license, it's pretty basic. If you're not a Ghostbusters fan you're not going to find anything particularly compelling here. As licensed games go, it's above average - but given that the film series it is based on was last seen at the cinemas over 20 years ago, it's a bit of disappointment that it still feels a bit rushed. It could have been (and based on pre-release media, seemed to be) so much better.
Gameplanet (Jun 12, 2009)
So, I liked Ghostbusters: The Game, but I wanted to love it. When it's trying to be a third-person shooter it's boring, when it's trying to be just a Ghost capturing game, it's plenty of fun. However, if you aren't a fan of the movies then there really isn't much that makes this game special or something even worth looking at. For some fans you may be able to ignore what's wrong with the game. But when you consider all the production resources that were thrown at this game, it is a pity that it didn't attain the greatness it deserved to.
70 (Jun 12, 2009)
If you've been waiting for Ghostbusters 3 or simply a video game that does the classic series justice, Ghostbusters: The Video Game won't disappoint. The attention to detail here shames most other movie-licensed titles and there's plenty of fan service that will please gamers and non-gamers alike. Had the core game been more focussed on the hunting and trapping we'd have had a potential classic, but even with issues (some poor weapons, difficulty spikes, slowdown and disappointing multiplayer) you'll likely have a great time.
70 (UK) (Jun 12, 2009)
If you love the film it's impossible not to like this game, despite its faults. That would be like hating a puppy just because it's got a wonky leg. This might not be the best videogame ever made but it's one of the better movie tie-ins out there, and it's the closest to being a Ghostbuster most of us will ever get.
TotalVideoGames (TVG) (Jun 12, 2009)
The single greatest thing about Ghostbusters: The Videogame is the fact it's Ghostbusters. Terminal Reality has done a good job of replicating what was good about the movie: you get to trap Slimer, fight the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, and enjoy Ray and Egon's jargon-fuelled banter and Venkman's occasional dry one-liners. If you're a fan of the movies this alone is largely enough to look past the game's failings, such as the repetitive gameplay and dated design.
70 (Jun 17, 2009)
It's a classic case of being sucked in by a license; an average shooter resting heavily on the shoulders of an acclaimed movie license. It's not all bad, just don't expect it to be as good as you're probably expecting it to be.
Gamestyle (Jun 23, 2009)
If you're a fan of the Ghostbusters (who isn't?), there's enough here for you to really sink your teeth into. But once you push aside the nostalgia factor, you start to realise that what is only a good game could have been something special given a few more months development time. Still, it's one of the better licensed games we've played this year.
70 (Jun 23, 2009)
Ghostbusters: The Video Game is everything I'd hoped it would be when it comes to the story, performances, and gameplay. If it weren't for the technical issues that effect some models of PS3, it would score higher. As broken as it can be at times, I just can't overlook the problems so easily. However, the game is completable as the worst of the glitches can be worked around with enough time and patience. It's a stellar adventure and you really should play it, but I hope your PS3 is luckier than mine seems to be.
Video Games Daily (Jun 24, 2009)
Ghostbusters is a good game because it's everything it should have been. No one expected the best game in the world, we just wanted a loving recreating of the universe so many of us adore, held together in a game-shaped shell that we can at least get along with for a while. And that's exactly what we've been given. Bustin', indeed, makes me feel good.
Tech-Gaming (Jun 14, 2009)
Overall, Ghostbusters: The Video Game is paradigmatic fan service for fans of the two films. Players will feel they unearthed a lost relic of the 1990’s, as the game miraculously captures the look and feel of the two Ghostbusters movies. For many, that experience will triumph over the title’s weaknesses- a linear storyline, and a lack of diversity in the game’s mechanics. Still, these faults can nearly be overlooked when many aficionados will have smiles as big as the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man.
And every now and then, you rope in a ghost, Bill Murray nails a quip, and the game really shines for what it is. Unfortunately, the game’s charms fade by the end unless you’re truly a Ghostbusters superfan. If you’re only in it for the game, then the numerous flaws keep it from being an essential play.
Console Monster (Jul 04, 2009)
Being a fan of the film will boost the fun-factor the player gets out of the game – the script and general tone of the experience fits extremely well with the spirit of the movies, enhanced greatly by using the original actors to do the voice work. Where things fall down a little is with the game mechanics, which after thirty minutes have been exhausted and won't change for the remainder of the title. The overall experience in Ghostbusters is an enjoyable if short lived one, so it's well worth checking out, if only for a rental.
Gamekult (Jun 24, 2009)

But they’re not enough to elevate Ghostbusters above just good enough. Whether good is good enough for you to shell out full price is up to you to decide. It’s easily recommendable as an impulse buy at £20 and one that if you play in short bursts will provide more than enough fun to warrant the purchase. It’s just a shame that more wasn’t done to combat the repetitiveness as, with more variety, this could have lived up to its massive potential.
