Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is very sharp, lighthearted and fun game that will please younger fans of the movie with its varied gameplay, good looks and clever writing. A recommended purchase for fans of the movie.
GameZone (Jul 05, 2009)
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is easily one of the best children’s games to come along these days. A nice array of gameplay mechanics keeps the gameplay exciting, while the multiplayer modes ensure hours of additional replayability.
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is one of those rare instances where the whole is better than the sum of its parts. There is plenty going on, but nothing is done amazingly well. But the combination of all these elements comes together to prove that any movie game can be fun when given the right amount of attention. If you have kids and are looking for a great game to play with them, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is a great choice.
Game Chronicles (Jul 06, 2009)
I would recommend Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs to just about anyone looking for a totally fun and moderately challenging gameplay experience with all of the flavor and style of the Ice Age movies. With so many game variations, this is the ultimate sampler platter of video gaming and non-stop fun from start
The overall quality and ease of play of the game make it suited for kids, and in that regard it's actually pretty good as far as kiddie movie licensed games go. If you're over ten, though, you'll find things too easy to provide much challenge at all, so you'd better be a really big Ice Age fan if you're going to get your money's worth out of it.

Overall, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is a fun game. Parents looking for a good clean game for the kids to enjoy should look no further. Even older gamers who are fond of the movies or looking for a decent adventure game with a large amount of platforming will enjoy this title. The game doesn't offer incredible depth aside from going back to collect crystals or trying to improve your challenge scores, but for what it is, a children's game based off a movie, and at its reduced price, its hard to go wrong. Technically the game presents no bugs and the gameplay, story, and overall presentation make it so that any one from the occasional, to hardcore gamer will get some enjoyment out of this game.
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs continues the trend of solid movie-to-game conversions. Couple this with the idea that it is also a kids game that usually translates to quick cash-in and you get a two-for-one bonus of good news. If your kids are fans of the movies then there is no reason not to pick up this enjoyable romp in the universe. Lack of co-op hurts the overall score, but what is here is a fun romp from beginning to end. I trust there are no hardcores out there considering picking this up, and if you are (even just for Achievements), rent it first. The game clocks in at less than three hours with a skilled gamer at the helm, but kids interested in taking Sid and his friends on a fun journey will find plenty to love.

It falls short of an unqualified recommendation at full-price because of a difficulty curve that’s more or less flatlined, and the sometimes glacial (as in ‘ice age’, ha!) pace of the action. But it’s never boring, and doesn’t that count for a lot?
PSX Extreme (Jul 24, 2009)
If you've got kids at home who love the Ice Age franchise, then we don't see why they shouldn't have themselves a copy. Aside from the $50 price tag, which we think may be too high, it's a straightforward and lighthearted game that the little ones should enjoy quite a bit. From a more professional and grown up point of view, we actually think a lot of these games have some really massive potential to look more like their big-screen kin, and play even better. The obvious limitations here are the graphics, which have been kept back in order to make this a port friendly game. We'd really love to see a developer try and release something proper to really bridge the gap between CG movie and videogame.

In the end, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is a children’s game that has some heart. I spent a lot of hours playing and enjoying the game for what it was. The multiplayer is definitely not something to go out of your way to play, nor is it a reason to buy the game. However, it does deliver a solid tie-in to the film that is a good stepping-stone for kids. While it is intended for kids, adults will likely have trouble with the challenge mode. It consists of several sections of the game that need to be beaten in one shot under strict time or score conditions. This will be where your average gamer will go for his kicks, and it is actually pretty tough. As a single player game with quick loads after ‘death’, unlimited lives, and lots of in-game help at your disposal, don’t hesitate to pick this up for your lil Ice Age fan. They will love it, and you might get a kick out of it, too!
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, like the movie of the same name, it won’t win any awards for breaking the mold or taking any gameplay risks. But the game accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do, and I can’t really complain about that. There are plenty of fun movie-inspired platforming levels, and the unlockable multiplayer modes certainly add some replay value. If you or someone you know loves the Ice Age franchise, then this game will certainly please fans without giving them too much of a challenge.
gamrReview (Aug 04, 2009)
In conclusion, Ice Age Dawn: of the Dinosaurs, isn’t perfect, but as a movie tie-in, it stands well above the rest when it comes to competent level design, graphics and voice work. You can really tell that a lot of effort went into this game. The game does have a few faults, such as the short playtime, somewhat vapid minigames and multiplayer, and a confusing story for those who have not watched the movie. For the target audience, this will not matter, and any child should have fun with this game.

IGN (Jul 08, 2009)
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs is a game that should satisfy the franchise's young fan base. It's got the characters they know and love, it's got a bunch of different gameplay types bundled together to keep hold of short attention spans, and it shouldn't be too difficult. Still, the game probably won't appeal to players outside of that limited demographic -- it's way too easy, characters float on top of stuff, some of the voices are annoying, and so on. I personally enjoyed the variety of gameplay and chasing the Trophies for challenges, but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone but an Ice Age super-fan under the age of 10.

Ice Age goes to show that you don't always need to toss in some throw away mini-games to string together a video game. It is just as easy to switch up gameplay styles but not goes as deep as a game that specializes in one area. The result of the combined styles makes Ice Age an enjoyable romp in prehistory with a silly cast of characters. While it might not turn hardcore heads, youngsters will get plenty of mileage out of Ice Age.
GameSpot UK (Aug 04, 2009)
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs provides a good deal of variety and the occasional funny moment. However, it doesn't offer any real challenge, and the experience is short lived. While the action and platforming sections are fun to play, the racing and shooter levels are too simplistic and require only a modicum of skill and some button mashing to complete. The multiplayer modes, meanwhile, vary wildly in terms of quality. Ice Age is a game that younger players and fans of the movie will enjoy, but it's a game that attempts to cover a lot of bases without doing anything particularly well.
Game Informer Magazine (Sep 22, 2009)
Most of the challenges are enjoyable (albeit lax on difficulty), but hardly any are in satisfying doses. I was left wanting more, and wondering why solid gameplay sections were only used once.

Hardcore-Gamer bietet Ice Age 3 hingegen nichts, was man nicht schon gesehen hätte.

But Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs will make a lot of people happy. It will be fodder for the haters who enjoy ripping things that don’t measure up to their high standards, but equally it will bring hours of fun to those that love the movie and eagerly rent the game. For them there are plenty of levels to complete and achievements to own, and who doesn’t want to see a fight between a Mammoth and a T-Rex.
"Ice Age 3" macht so wenig richtig, dass es schon fast schmerzt. Ein mal eben so dahingeklatschter Zusatz zum dritten Teil eines Films, der schon bei der ersten Fortsetzung einiges an Pfiff eingebüßt hat. Vielleicht sollten sich die Publisher manche kommerziellen Bemühungen einfach sparen.
