3D Juegos (May 12, 2008)

All in all, know that this is not a good game, but it's not that bad either. Die hard fans of Iron Man will really appreciate the smooth controls and frantic gameplay. After all, the game feels like you've stepped into the toughest part of a comic. However, if you're just a regular gamer, you're going to want to pass on this title. The repetitive missions, terrible story, and ugly cutscenes are not worth your hard earned cash! Additionally, there is no local multiplayer action nor is there an online component. Consequently, replayability of the title is almost nil! In other words, give the game a wide berth unless you really love action for action's sake.

Console Monster (May 09, 2008)
Whilst the game has some nice features in it, the overall gameplay is far too repetitive and boring. With this being a movie tie-in it is likely that the game was rushed in order to meet the movie release date, and that's a real shame because the game has some potential. As it is however, if you're looking for a quick action fix it may be worth a rental, particularly if you are Iron Man fan.

Iron Man has its occasional bright spots, but the gameplay fluctuates between monotony and frustration. With technical meltdowns, unsightly visuals, and a jumbled plot line, there are more than enough reasons to leave this junker on the scrap heap.

Iron Man's high-flying new adventure is hindered by erratic difficulty and repetitive level design.

Good Game (May 12, 2008)
Yeah they kind of approached it like the Spider-man games, they must've thought that simply the act of moving around an open-world as the main character would be fun in itself. But even the last Spider-man game was much more fluid and detailed, and the dialogue in Iron Man, as well as the cities devoid of life, really pales in comparison. I'm giving it 5/10.

To be fair to SEGA and developer Secret Level Iron Man isn't an awful game; it's just a long way from the level my expectations had been raised to. After the movie turned out to be such good fun, the game landed with a heavy thud, failing to offer anywhere near the same level of enjoyment.

Kuten olen jo antanut ymmärtää, Iron Man on kaikilta osin täysin kelvoton peli.

As is, Iron Man is shot down again and again in battles where he's totally out of his depth. His game suffers the same ignominious fate.

Iron Man in video game form is quite a mess. You're better off saving your money, or seeing the movie a few more times. One to avoid unless you must have the movie tie-in/cash-in game.

Men tyvärr.

UOL Jogos (May 09, 2008)

If you manage to build up enough patience to complete the game and its stress-inducing challenges (such as killing the required number of enemies and beating the stage in a certain time limit), you can unlock new pieces of Iron Man armor straight from the comic books. Past that, though, there's no reason for a return visit. The game doesn't support Xbox Live or PlayStation Network, not even for leaderboards or new suit downloads. It's a blown opportunity, especially considering that co-op missions with Iron Man and War Machine would've given this game some much-needed pep. Save yourself the torture of dealing with this mechanical mess and go see the film instead.

Jeuxvideo.com (May 02, 2008)

IGN (May 05, 2008)
The problem with Iron Man is that at some point someone sat down and said "You know what would be fun? Drop players into situations where they have to do repetitive, meaningless tasks and then add respawning, overwhelming douchebags." That's a shame. Flying is fun, the upgrades are neat, and the game can look good. However, these pros are outweighed by the aforementioned frustration, crappy storyline and lame cutscenes. You never feel like Iron Man in this game, and if you're like me, you never feel like you're having fun.

Needless to say, I played this entire game tense, angry, and praying that the next level would be the last. I never really felt like I was in control at any point during the game. The summer movie games usually bring misery, but I never expected them to bring this much pain.

We've come to expect a missing coat of polish on film tie-ins, but Iron Man seems to lack even a level of care, resulting in a drab adaptation that sinks well beyond simple mediocrity. See the flick, read the comics -- hell, even drink the commemorative Slurpees. Just skip the game.

Play.tm (Jul 08, 2008)
It seems Secret Level somehow managed to circumvent everything that can make games fun as they produced Iron Man. It's not awful, but its decidedly below average from beginning to end. The game is not necessarily the laziest attempt at a cash-in I've ever played, but it's certainly on the right track.

Good Game (May 12, 2008)
It's the classic movie game mentality of approaching it from a place of trying to the get likenesses right, and the feel of the main character right. And yeah, some of it wasn't bad, like the targetting wasn't bad and flying cool. But the foundation of a game needs to be a good idea, something that's fun for people to DO. And the end result here is something I wouldn't play with a 10 foot Sixaxis, I'm giving it 3 out of 10 chickens.

DarkZero (Jun 03, 2008)
Perhaps the worst part of Iron Man was that the movie is so damn entertaining, this game is almost certainly going to piggyback quite a few sales off the back of it. For the same price, you can see the movie at an IMAX four times, which will be far more entertaining than enduring the equivalent amount of time with this torturous piece of software. Remember Superman 64? Just saying… Don’t be a sucker. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

This product is too crude for even the ‘mainstream’ demographic; it can only possibly appeal to the ignorant. Blissfully unaware of the state of the art, there’s a chance that some youngsters who’ve never played a decent game before may enjoy this product. It’s oddly reminiscent of some of the retro games of the 90s, 80s, and even the 70s, which folks enjoyed at the time simply because they didn’t know any better — frustration and repetition were all there was to gaming.

AceGamez (2008)
Iron Man is a terrible game, but what did you really expect from a movie conversion? Everything about it is unpolished (save for the bearable shooting), from the graphics to the lack of any comprehensible plot, demonstrating why you should just go and see the movie instead. The game is surprisingly short too, without any sort of multiplayer and only the pathetic One Man Army mode to hold your attention outside the main game. An immensely high difficulty, due to the stupid amount of enemies that attack you at once, extends the lifespan, but for all the wrong reasons. However, despite all of this, the one thing that makes Iron Man such a god-awful experience is the fact that Iron Man simply cannot be controlled effectively. I can't believe that no one at SEGA noticed this, as it's such a simple thing to deal with. To be frank, Iron Man would make the superhero in question feel ashamed to be associated with it, before blowing it to kingdom come.

Jolt (UK) (May 10, 2008)
In fact, if being attached to a movie is the only reason Iron Man has made it to the shelves in its current state, then it’s fair to suggest that Hollywood just might have more to worry about than a falling market share.

Game Tap (May 07, 2008)
Ultimately, none of these shortcomings are really surprising. Iron Man simply continues the tradition of many movie-based games that have come before it. The sad part is that there was an opportunity here to do something interesting with a truly great comic book character, but instead we end up with something that’s merely passable as a video game.

Gamekult (May 07, 2008)

A éviter !

If you must satisfy your Iron Man addiction with this game, at least take a rental before heading to GameStop. But remind yourself that the eight dollars could be put to a better use, watching the movie with your brother again.
