Giant Bomb (Apr 19, 2011)
Mortal Kombat is fantastic fun whether you're looking to take on the world or if you just want to see the story unfold in an all-new way.
Defunct Games (May 24, 2011)
Ed Boon can rest easy, his Mortal Kombat reboot is a resounding success. With its creative modes, stellar story and revamped fighting mechanics, Mortal Kombat is one of the best fighting games on the PlayStation 3. Best of all, there's more than enough single-player content for even those who never want to go up against another human being. Flawless victory!
Calm Down Tom (Apr 20, 2011)
Taking a step back from this release, you wonder what an MK fan would want in a new game that Ed Boon and his team haven’t already included. They seem to know the audience so well and have set such high standards for themselves that it’s hard to see how anyone but the most harsh critic could find anything to complain about. Beyond satisfying those hardcore fans, they have managed to create a brilliant game for even those who actively dislike the series. From detailed tutorials on how to achieve the brilliantly inventive fatalities to a great story mode, they have created a game as inviting as a fighting game can be. Without compromising on depth or complexity, they still have managed to craft a game anyone can enjoy. If a fighting game renaissance is possible, it will be Mortal Kombat – not Street Fighter – that brings it about.
Gamegravy (May 28, 2011)
Overall, I love that Netherrealm chose to go back to the 2D style of game play. It’s like hopping onto a bicycle you have not rode on in the last 16 years. From the violent characters to the easy to pick up moves, to even the gruesome stage fatalities, everything screams Mortal Kombat. If this is the road the series continues to drive down, then Mortal Kombat is back, and back with a vengeance.
We Got This Covered (Apr 20, 2011)
All in all, the pros far outweigh the cons. Aside from the online play I have nothing negative to say about this offering. This is a must have to any MK fan or fan of fighting games. I triumphantly proclaim that the Mortal Kombat franchise has been resurrected. Ed Boon and company have mustered a FLAWLESS VICTORY!

The PlayStation 3 version is superior to its Xbox 360 counterpart because of the content. The PS3 version comes in with an extra character in Kratos and the game supports 3D, provided you own a 3DTV. Other than that there are no differences between the two versions. But if you are a gamer that has both a PS3 and 360 then I would suggest picking up the PS3 version and that is if you care about Kratos and you should, since he has some amazing finishers. I have been playing this game for days now and it’s a testament that Mortal Kombat has truly returned to its roots. With an arcade style feel to it, awesome finishing moves, a story that makes sense and a solid online mode, fighting games don’t get any better and bigger than this.

Mortal Kombat is going to do for this franchise what Street Fighter IV did for the Street Fighter franchise: resurrect it for the new generation and bring a new dawn in fighting game history. With Super Street Fighter IV, Marvel vs Capcom 3, Blaz Blue and now Mortal Kombat, it is a great time to be a fighting game fan. Netherealm Studios has managed to craft a game that not only brings a new level of polish and an insane amount of content, but also captures the feeling of the early arcade hits in the series. Two thumbs up!
3D Juegos (Apr 20, 2011)
Overall, WB Games accomplished what it set out to do: bring the Mortal Kombat franchise to its roots, while also moving the franchise into modern gaming. While there are some minor unnecessary changes to get used to, such as the button layout, other new additions are more than welcome. If you are looking for a top contender in the fighting ring that can draw some good blood, then this is definitely the fighter for you.
Meristation (Apr 20, 2011)

Of course, if you're like the vast majority of the folks who wandered by my desk during the weeks that I played Mortal Kombat, you want to see one thing, and one thing only: utter carnage. And hey -- it's here in spades. Just try to remember that for once, Mortal Kombat is more than the sum of a few flying body parts.

MAN!AC (Apr 21, 2011)
Games TM (May 11, 2011)
The fact that, in harking back to earlier days, the game feels stuck in the past, the fact the fighting system really isn't deep compared to other modern-day brawlers, the fact the gore is little more than a sideshow and the fact that most of the fan service appeals to fans who have grown up a great deal since the Nineties throws up numerous reasons to criticise, however.
