A Crack in Time is everything you want and expect from a game. All aspects compliment one another and work in sync that you won't be able to put this title down. A must play for all gamers.
DarkZero (Nov 14, 2009)
It’s so rare to play a game with such imagination and as many good ideas as A Crack In Time. It’s even rarer to play one that pulls it off in a manner that never resorts to dragging or frustration. You simply cannot do better than keeping what works, fixing what didn’t and adding a few new neat ideas that are implemented in such a deep way. If this is truly the last Ratchet and Clank release then rest assured that the series goes out with a bang. It’s one of the games of the year and an outstanding exclusive for the Playstation 3.
Gaming Age (Oct 27, 2009)
If you're a PS3 owner, don't let Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time get lost in the shuffle... besides being the best R&C adventure yet, it's definitely one of those rare games that puts a smile on your face from the second it begins. It also may be the sendoff game for one of the most popular gaming duos of the past 2 generations.
1UP (Oct 23, 2009)
And that's the thing... if you've really gotten your fill with either Tools or Booty, I'll admit that there might not be enough to tempt you here. But know this: I'm a casual fan of the series and I still found myself excited to get home and play the game each night the past week. It may be a lot of more of the same, but more of the same has never been so darn addicting.
Giant Bomb (Oct 23, 2009)
With A Crack in Time apparently marking the end of the "Future" storyline on the PlayStation 3, I really couldn't ask for a better embodiment of everything I've come to enjoy from the series. The constant satisfaction from upgrading creative weaponry, item collection which feels rewarding rather than trivial, and the over-the-top action are all here, and better than they've ever been. With the addition of some interesting puzzles, even more flexibility with your weapons, and a great presentation, Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time is not only the best game in the series, but one that will certainly stand the test of, well, time.

Insomniac has created another Ratchet and Clank to top the last one. On one hand, if something isn't broken, you shouldn't fix it but you have to wonder how many adventures are left for Ratchet and Clank. There shouldn't be any confusion, this is one of the best gaming experience yet this year, but Insomiac has done such a great job over the years that a déjà vu feeling sets in and lets you get comfortable with the franchise by not shaking the foundation too much. It isn't a huge strike against the game, but it is a feeling that will wash over franchise veterans. A Crack in Time brings some dynamite new features that add to franchise and maintains the highest levels in animation and writing that only Insomniac and a handful of other developers can hope to achieve.
Hooked Gamers (Nov 06, 2009)
Overall, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time is Insomniac's best entry into the series to date and one of the best Playstation 3 games to be released this year.
Atomic Gamer (Nov 03, 2009)
A Crack in Time is a pop-off-the-screen visual treat that consistently evokes the quality and production values of a Pixar film. Complemented by wonderful storytelling, buoyed by witty dialog and top-notch performances, A Crack in Time rivals just about any of those critter-starring vehicles Hollywood loves to churns out.

If there’s one point I can get across about Ratchet and Clank it’s this: Ratchet and Clank doesn’t do anything revolutionary, but it does a lot of things very well. A Crack in Time has great shooting mechanics, great platforming, and even great puzzles. The voice acting is great and the graphics, while not as amazing as they were in 2007, still hold up and look very unique compared to all of the warfare games that flood the market. Even though the primary element of Ratchet and Clank is shooting, it is a breath of fresh air compared to all of the violent warfare games that you’ll more than likely spend your holiday season playing. Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time is a great game that hopefully will not be the last time we see the lovable duo. If you have a PS3 you need to check this one out.
Thunderbolt Games (Nov 28, 2009)
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time’s likelihood of appealing to you is nearly as infinite as the universe it takes place in, but a few disappointingly expected plot turns and some finicky camera controls will make the universe seem a tad smaller. If you can blast your way through these minor setbacks, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time will deliver a fun and humorous platforming game packed with far-fetched weapons, sharp visuals, and more than its fair share of laughs. As the conclusion to its three part series, A Crack in Time represents the peak of what the series is famous for, and is easily recommendable to anyone who has enjoyed Ratchet & Clank games in the past, or simply has an itch to fire something exponentially more exciting than bullets. Either way, this is one game that anyone can find a reason to play.
ZTGameDomain (Nov 09, 2009)
A game for the young at heart and agile of humor, Insomniac has crafted a well-realized sci-fi universe. In a phenomenal conclusion to the Future storyline, to say whether I think there's more to the franchise is a spoiler in itself...but maybe in the next game we'll finally learn Ratchet's last name.
Digital Chumps (Oct 28, 2009)
It's fair to say A Crack in Time is still cranking out the same formula, but with Insomniac's amazing attention to detail and refusal to keep the pace at anything other than a neck-breaking speed, is that really a bad thing? For Ratchet, if "the usual" if going to go hand in hand with "stellar," I'll take it.
GameSpy (Oct 26, 2009)
It's all about balance, you see. And pacing. And A Crack in Time does as good a job of maintaining both as any Ratchet game we've seen in years.
IGN (Oct 20, 2009)
Insomniac has created a visually appealing game with enough personality to match its good looks. With so much to level-up and enjoy, there's enough to keep even hardcore Ratchet fans coming back for more -- especially with the new Clank sections that feature some enthralling puzzles. Now that the awkward space sections from Tools of Destruction have been replaced, there's almost nothing I don't like about Crack in Time. Unfortunately, as Crack in Time still relies heavily on the tried and true Ratchet Formula, gamers that were satisfied with old Ratchet games might not have enough reasons to come back. But how can anyone refuse that adorable, fuzzy Lombax? I sure can't. And he has such cool toys, to boot.
IGN Australia (Oct 30, 2009)
A Crack in Time isn’t a revolution, but it is an impressively solid and fun game with a number of new gameplay hooks to enjoy. Plus, it continues a story set in motion back in Tools of Destruction that you’ll want to see through to the end. If you’re after a polished action platformer with a great sense of progression and plenty of personality, this is highly likely to fit the bill.
Game Over Online (Nov 24, 2009)
A Crack in Time is essentially safe. It's a Ratchet & Clank game, which means it has high production values, a good sense of humor, a high number of explosions, accessible gameplay, and much of the same stuff you're used to from the games that have come before it. You can't really go wrong with it; it's a consistently excellent series, with only a few slight issues here and there.

Insomniac knows very well what they're doing and this is proven time and time again with delivering great games. The platform genre is gradually disappearing into the shadows but that doesn't stop this developer from keeping this fantastic franchise alive. Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time is the best game of the series and certainly worth checking out.

Kennt man doch alles.
GameSpot (Oct 27, 2009)
Even though you can complete the main adventure in less than 10 hours, there are so many side missions and collectibles in A Crack in Time that it can take more than 20 hours to experience everything this great game has to offer. The arena missions are particularly cool; handicaps limit what weapons you can use, which forces you to learn a few new tricks. It's not too difficult to take down a giant monster called Snowball with your full arsenal, but it's a lot more challenging when you're limited to just your wrench. A Crack in Time doesn't drastically change the formula of the series, but that's not a big problem. The core gameplay is still rock solid, and the few tweaks and additions help to differentiate this from previous iterations. The overall pacing has also been greatly improved, focusing on the best moments to keep this adventure fun and rewarding the whole way through. This is the best Ratchet game in years and a great platformer no matter how you look at it.
GamersGlobal (Nov 09, 2009)

Savour it though folks, because Insomniac are touting this as the final chapter and if it is, then the duo can hold their heads high as they go out with a fittingly raucous bang. Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time is a great game marred only by a pervading sense of dj vu, then. But when the quality bar is raised this high, deja vu be damned - we couldn't care less. We just sincerely hope that Insomniac see reason and postpone killing off their strongest franchise for a some time yet.

Defunct Games (Jan 07, 2010)
Even though they are separated for this adventure, Ratchet & Clank are still going to kick your butt. After seven installments, it looks like this duo still has a few tricks left up its sleeve. This game has everything, fast action, time travel, a great sense of humor and some of the best visuals of any platformer game. A Crack in Time is easily one of the best PlayStation 3 games of the year!
Extreme Gamer (Nov 04, 2009)
A Crack in Time isn’t the perfect Ratchet game, but it is a lot of fun. As the “Future” saga closes lets hope Insomniac is cooking up something invigorating for the next batch of Ratchet games.
Game Observer (Jan 30, 2010)
If you’ve gone this far in the Ratchet & Clank Future series, then you may as well see it to the end and take a look at A Crack in Time. For what it’s worth, the story gives fans a satisfying conclusion and would perfectly bookend the series… not that I can imagine Sony putting this franchise to rest. Jak and Daxter recently made an unwanted comeback, after all. The curious newcomer to this series would be better served examining Tools of Destruction first.

But I've been playing R&C games for years now, and I was hoping for something extra. That doesn't mean radical change - goodness knows no one wants Ratchet to "go dark" or start running round sandbox environments. I still want a meat feast pizza, I just want it to have a stuffed crust. And maybe some dips. Or in other words, a proper selection of exciting new weapons, original puzzles and a bit of innovation. It's not that A Crack in Time is all fur coat and no knickers. The problem is, it's all fur coat and the same knickers it's been wearing for seven years. Time for a change.
