PSP Minis (Jan 01, 2011)
A Space Shooter for 2 Bucks! is a great example of how a name can be both completely accurate and misleading. Yes, it is a space shooter, and it’s only two bucks. But it’s more than just a space shooter. It’s far and away the best Mini yet. It’s going to be a tough act to follow, though, as Frima has raised the bar in terms of bang for your two bucks.

Two bucks. That's all you'll need to grab this PSP Mini, and it is worth every cent. It's got an interesting setup, the gameplay is time-tested and you'll get a couple of hours worth of fun out of it. Considering how much it costs to rent a video or go to the movies these days, the two dollar fee is a crazy good bargain. Most of us aren't sold on PSP Minis being all that great an idea, but if they keep putting out games like this one, the Minis are here to stay.
IGN (Dec 21, 2010)
A Space Shooter For 2 Bucks! really is the complete package. For a two dollar PlayStation Mini, A Space Shooter For 2 Bucks! offers an experience as fun, lengthy, difficult and worthwhile as some of the premiere standard games on the PlayStation Network. The fact that it will only run you $2 simply means that you're getting an awesome game for dirt cheap, and one that could easily warrant a price tag five times as high. If you're looking for a fun way to spend your commute for a week or a way to pass the time while on a lengthy plane ride, you needn't look much further. It's equally as worthwhile on your PlayStation 3, even if you need to set aside some of your precious home gaming time to get through it.
Gaming Nexus (Jan 05, 2011)
Considering that the title is only $1.99, A Space Shooter for Two Bucks is an incredibly solid game from top to bottom. Frima Studios has thrown together an amazingly complete package that is great for getting that “quick fix” if you have a few brief moments to game. The game is a simple, yet completely satisfying, package with a couple of modes to offer players in order to keep things fresh. If I owned a PSP, this would definitely be one Mini that I would keep in heavy rotation when I am on the go.

For a game that's entirely happy to plunder the past and repackage it all with a nod and a wink, this cheery portion of nostalgic blasting is well worth dusting off your neglected PSP for.
PSN Stores (Jan 27, 2011)
All in all, A Space Shooter For 2 Bucks! is a bargain-bin game that belongs on the top shelf. In the same way that it did with its previous title, Young Thor, Frima have raised the bar for games on the minis platform. Along with its juvenile sense of humor, there are a handful of gameplay twists that make A Space Shooter an absolute joy to play. Like Young Thor, there are a host of achievements that are actually fun to unlock. There are a ton of shooters on the PSN (many of them minis), and A Space Shooter For 2 Bucks! is one of the best. Who’s That Flying?! is a great game, don’t get me wrong, but it would be silly to pass up on this gem of a shmup. If it weren’t for the slippery save bug, I’d give it 5 stars. In summation, I’d have to quote Commander P. Jefferson in saying, “that was definitely worth 2 bucks!”
GamesRadar (Jan 26, 2011)
While the title tells you what the game is, it also features the reason to forgive the game’s shortcomings: It's $2! Two bucks ain't much. That barely gets you a pack of gum these days, so a fully-featured shmup with all the trimmings for the same price is quite the value proposition. We can whine about how it might not be the best shmup we've ever played, but the best shmup we've ever played probably didn't cost $2, and Commander P. Jefferson's space odyssey is easily worth that to anyone who wants to shoot stuff throughout the universe.
Destructoid (Jan 12, 2011)
If A Space Shooter for 2 Bucks is any indication of what other games are in the PSP Mini collection, then gamers are in for a treat. It doesn't try to do too much, it's a lot of fun, and it's cheap. I wanted to keep coming back for more. It was so addictive that I was distracted through the day because I was itching to come home and blow up some alien scum. If you like shooters, spend the cash. You won't be disappointed.
Thunderbolt Games (Jan 09, 2011)
A Space Shooter For 2 Bucks goes to show that you can still have your fun without having to challenge your bank account. Whether you’re on the go with your PSP or if you need something to greatly occupy yourself between paychecks, we can be thankful for the fact that the option of killing space cretins is available as an alternative to spending the evening hitting up the drive-thru window.
