If I could change one thing about this it might be the amount of grinding one has to do to get cards. After you clear all 5 stages on a phase you unlock a card that is from Sony’s “The Eye Of Judgment”. These cards are extremely powerful and also extremely expensive. I had to grind for a few hours just to get enough for one of them. But I can’t really fault the game for that, it keeps bringing me back. This game has got its hooks in me and I don’t see them coming out anytime soon.

Creature Defense, with its blend of card collecting and tower defense, was a great idea. It could have benefited from a more thought out execution, but it works fine as is, and can be a lot of fun. And again, really addictive. The combination makes for a game that's definitely more interesting than recent tower defense games. I like that this card twist increases the challenge of tower defense, and not necessarily the difficulty. It's certainly worth your $7.99.

Even with the unique card battling perspective, Creature Defense doesn't exactly break any new ground. If you've never been a fan of this style of game, I doubt this inexpensive PSP title is going to change your mind. Still, this is one of the very few tower defense games on Sony's handheld; it certainly has a place in the library. There's enough here to recommend Creature Defense, it looks great, has a lot of replay and makes for a great portable game when you're on the go.

Maybe I am being a bit hard on a downloadable game that sells for less than $10. The thing is, there are a good deal of games in the same price range that I think are far more entertaining than Creature Defense. The game may appeal to strategy fans or those who love tower defense, but it may be pretty limited. Most will get enough satisfaction out of a flash tower defense game. The upside is that the game costs 8 bucks, no big loss whether you enjoy it or not.
