I had a blast with this game, and I can’t recommend it enough for players who want a fresh challenge even if you played both Monster games… and believe me, this game is plenty challenging.

‘PixelJunk Monsters: Deluxe’ is one game strategy fans should not overlook. Trust me; I am still kicking myself for not checking out ‘PixelJunk’ earlier. It is that good! On the PSP, or in its original form over the Playstation Network, ‘PixelJunk’ is a highly addictive, fun, strategy game that will keep you happily busy for hours on end. The portable nature of the PSP makes ‘PixelJunk’ even more appealing because of the games short mission design and ease of action. This is the perfect type of game to pick up and play when you are on the go... just make sure you have the reserve to power down your PSP, if you have an important appointment to attend. The verdict is easy, ‘PixelJunk Monsters: Deluxe’ is a must have.

If it feels like all I've done is talk about how awesome PixelJunk Monster Deluxe is in this review, it's probably because I have. For me, someone who only casually got into the other iterations, this is the ultimate version of this game. It's got the most content, it looks great, and it's on a system that's perfect for these 10-wave levels and endless replays. The online option is a welcome addition, there's new music, new enemies, and new towers. Sure, the game is as hard as ever, but that only makes it more rewarding in my opinion.

GameSpot (Oct 13, 2009)
PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe is the definitive version of this game, combining previous releases with all-new content and a robust multiplayer mode. If you can see past the occasionally frustrating difficulty, you'll find a surprisingly deep and charismatic strategy game that keeps you entertained for hours--even if you're tempted to throw your PSP at the wall every now and then.

And that’s what it boils down to – its worth. If you’re an insanely dedicated PixelJunk Monsters fan then this game is a no brainer, but if you’re happy with what the PSN versions offer you then it’s probably wise not to invest further. If you’ve never played any of the Monsters games then this is undoubtedly the definitive version. PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe has charisma, content, clarity and a cracking heart. It’s the girl next door, and for that, it’s priceless.
