If you want the most complete experience of a point-and-click adventure game that’s the perfect introduction into the genre you must play the first Quest For Glory, but make sure it’s the VGA remake! This is a true masterpiece especially for the time that it came out. If you love adventure, clever puzzles, putting together clues, and battling various monsters than perhaps you too want to take the Quest For Glory. I did, and I couldn’t have enjoyed it anymore. Now that I own the game again, I play it every year. I can beat the game in less than two hours now but it’s still very fun.

This title was originally released as Hero's Quest but then re-released with the new title, great VGA graphics and sound card support rather than just using the PC's internal speaker. In the meantime the Quest for Glory saga has continued with three more titles and, a new one, Dragon Fire, that is about to be released due to its overwhelming popularity.

”Hut of Brown, Now Sit Down”.

DOSAdventure Classic Gaming (Oct 21, 1997)
The Quest for Glory series has been one of the least recognized adventure game series made by Sierra On-Line. The series differ from all other series in that it is the only one that incorporates significant role-playing elements. The first game of this series, Quest for Glory I: So You Want To Be A Hero, begins with the journey of a newly graduated hero in search of fame and glory. Here in Spielburg Valley is where the adventure begins!

The original EGA version has its own virtues, but the VGA remake has aged much better and should be your game version of choice unless you're playing purely for nostalgic reasons. With its point-and-click interface and the lovely hand-drawn graphics, it can be enjoyed as much as any other VGA classic today.
DOSA Force for Good (Apr, 2006)
Overall it's all fairly harmless lightweight fairy-tale stuff. It's much like the series' stablemate King's Quest, just with added sword-waving. So it's a bit twee, never entirely gripping, but mildly entertaining. I would say it's family-friendly material, but then so were Lucasarts adventures despite often having a more anarchic edge. This is no equal of Monkey Island, to be sure, but it earns its place on the shelf of adventuring history, for its worthy attempt to do something a little different with the formula.
