ZX Spectrum screenshots

thumbnail
The game does not have a pretty load screen, just a single line of red text saying RAD RAMP RACER IS LOADING. This screen is displayed when the load is complete
thumbnail
This is the game's main menu screen. Sinclair seems to be the default input option but this is easily changed. Scrolling text along the bottom of the screen displays the action keys
thumbnail
Option 1 - the player is skating against the computer who's playing as the BMX bike. The red number is a countdown timer to the start of the race
thumbnail
Not surprisingly the computer is in the lead
thumbnail
Judging whether the skateboarder will pass the oil drums takes some getting used to. I thought he'd get past this one
thumbnail
The race is the est of three two-minute legs. After two minutes, or something close to two minutes, the races just freeze on the spot
thumbnail
There are bonuses to be collected ....
thumbnail
.. but bonuses are not collected by diving on them. It may look as if there's no way the skate board has collided with the oil drum, but it does re-bound on impact
thumbnail
The second leg has different jumps to the first
thumbnail
The skateboarder is down again and this time the collision has definitely been detected far too soon
thumbnail
At least the computer has the good grace to fall occasionally and not turn in a perfect run every time
thumbnail
This is the score at the end of the race. Player 1 convincingly trounced by the computer
thumbnail
Here the roles are reversed and player 1 is on the BMX. Same course as before and the same result
thumbnail
This is the Hi-Score table. It does not show the scores for the human players because they were less than 750, and it does not show the scores for the computer players either
thumbnail
It is possible to have the computer race the computer.
