Description official description

Talisman: Prologue is a turned-based role-playing video game adaptation of the Talisman board game by Games Workshop Limited set in the fantasy land of Talisman.

Characters

The game provides 16 different character classes to choose from, each with different statistics (strength, craft, fate, gold, and lives), alignments, and special abilities, in order of appearance: warrior, troll, druid, wizard, monk, assassin, elf, dwarf, priest, prophetess, amazon, leprechaun, minotaur, sage, sprite, and vampire hunter.

Strength and craft determine the character's combat abilities, fate allows the player to re-roll the dice when a dice roll is required, gold represented money to purchase items, and lives determines how many chances the character has before permanently dying. All of which, including alignment, may be subject to change during the game. Character special abilities allow an additional game rule to be implemented. A sage for example, is able to look at the next spell or adventure card at anytime during the game.

The Board Game

The board game is a interpretation of a fantasy land, consisting of three regions: outer, middle, and inner regions. The player rolls a six-sided dice to determine which region the character moves to. Each region usually consists of drawing an adventure card or may an additional set of instructions which the player must follow, unless exempted by other factors, such as spells, followers, or items.

Drawing an adventure card, depending on the card may result in combat (resulting an enemy card) or an event. Events may consist of obtaining an item or spell, gaining a follower, one-time events or permanent events every time the player's character lands on the same region.

Combat

Combat occurs when the player draws a creature card when visiting a region or by other events. Outcome of combat is determined by strength or craft of the character and the opponent. Strength is used against non-magical beings and craft is used against magical beings. Both the player and the opponent throws a single six-dice roll, the result added to strength or craft score. The party with the highest end result wins. Defeated enemies are added as trophies, which may be exchanged for a single point of strength or craft, if certain requirements are met.
