Consoles Plus (Oct, 1992)
Bravo Sega, on commençait à s'inquiéter! (p. 64f)
Retro Archives (Feb 07, 2019)
All in all, Prince of Persia is a must have for any platform fan with a Sega CD. It is the Lawrence of Arabia of video games.
Admittedly the game is difficult to complete with 20-plus levels, but the bloody control system can take some of the blame for the thing being difficult to complete. As said before, this is a pointless conversion.
Video Games (Dec, 1993)
Mean Machines (Oct, 1992)
While this is another good conversion of what is, to a lot of people, a very good game, the programmers have failed to fully utilise the memory at their disposal, leaving Mega CD Prince of Persia more like an okay Megadrive game.
Power Play (Jan, 1993)

In the end, what you have is a very fun game, though not necessarily the best port. This gets said a lot and in this case it's no different. With all the capabilities of the Sega CD, they could have done a lot more than just a fancy intro and improved sound. If you don't own any version, I would recommend the Genesis port over this one. If you already own the Genesis version and are curious, pick up a copy. It's not too expensive, and the hilarious intro itself is enough to warrant the purchase.
The Video Game Critic (Feb 14, 2003)
Another thing that bugs me is that Prince of Persia doesn't even deserve to be on CD. Besides the intro voices and the exotic music, this could have been a normal Genesis game. Prince of Persia is an exercise in frustration and a big waste of time.
