As already mentioned the big plus of the game is its unique concept - therefore if you want to play something different during lunch break - Penguin Land would be a good gaame to do so. And it would not keep you from returning back to work, maybe only 2 or 3 times .
Sega Does (Jan 28, 2015)
Puzzle games on the Master System are few and far between, so it’s a good thing that Penguin Land is so enjoyable. The difficulty is perfect: challenging enough so that you won’t beat the entire game in a couple hours, approachable enough for you not to get pissed and wish a pox on all penguins, both living and cartoon. If you’re an appreciator of fun and wish to explore one of Sega’s more underrated entries, you owe it to yourself to drop in on Penguin Land.
Defunct Games (Jul 30, 2005)
At its heart Penguin Land is just another cute puzzle game, but there are few that are able to combine this level of challenge and not be sunk by a lot of frustration. It's not a perfect game (and you will curse at the TV screen at least once in each level), but what Penguin Land does it does with great precision and grace. This is a game that could easily be resurrected on the Game Boy Advance, it's an addictive theme that is easy to just pick up and play.
The Games Machine (UK) (Oct, 1988)
The mixture of ideas in Penguin Land makes a pleasant contrast to arcade adventures and shoot-'em-ups. Removing blocks and pushing objects around is reminiscent a Boulderdash/Lode Runner combination, but in a vertical format. The puzzles are often infuriating and require dexterous use of the Sega keypad, which makes the game difficult, but one worth mastering.
Power Play (Oct, 1988)
Computer and Video Games (CVG) (Oct, 1988)
Cuteygames rarely hit the spot in the UK, although they are popular in Japan.
