I'm having serious doubts about the PC-88 version of this game: I haven't found any kind of reference to it anywhere on the internet, and even Wikipedia doesn't mention it, though it does mention the PC-98 version. Can anybody prove there's actually a PC-88 version?

The original source given by the submitter was this page. Headlined "December 1989 games", it is a subpage of the website refugee2005.sakura.ne.jp which was a Japanese-language "PC-88 game library".

Translation of Japanese text (from DeepL):

Title: Pool of Radiance
Publisher: Ponica
Genre: RPG
Release Date: Dec. 1989
Retail Price
Platform: PC8801mk2SR or later

Features (Summary) This game is based on a part of the world of Forgodon Realm, one of the three background worlds in the table talk "AD&D". [etc. - the rest of the description just summarizes the plot & gameplay]

There's also a (not-very-good-quality) photo included, showing the game cover with "PC-8801MR" visible on it (front cover, under picture).
