Description official description

Welcome to Strangetown! The Sims 2 for Game Boy Advance is inspired by the weird town in the original PC game, but this time you're in a "reverse" reality show. Daddy Bigbucks (the villain from the game's predecessor, The Urbz) is secretly filming a reality TV show in Strangetown, and pushes your own Sim to mix things up for the cameras.

You'll make friends and enemies, have romances, play minigames (some of which are thinly disguised as fictional commercial breaks), and participate in 11 standalone episodes, each with their own plots and situations. In one episode, you might be dealing with Don Fusilli and his mob, in another episode you might be battling lady bugs after being shrunk down to the size of a bug by a homebrewed cola.

Overall, the game is less of a simulation and more of a quirky adventure game through a colorful desert town.

Worthwhile addition to your GBA collection

The Good
There's a lot to discover. Strangetown is beautifully rendered. It's hard to believe you are looking at only a 240x160 display

The Bad
Once you complete all the episodes, it might lose it's replay value

The Bottom Line
First of all, don't be fooled by the name, this is not the same game as Sims 2 for the PC and other platforms. It retains some of the Sims features, but since it uses an isometric display rather than a 3D one, it seems to have more in common with the original Sims.

However it differs significantly from those games. In this, you play the star in a reality TV series, and must play a series of episodes, with a number of plot points that must be completed. You create your main character, but the choices you have a limited compared to other Sims games. Sims 2 for GBA is almost like an RPG, actually. You complete a series of missions, only instead of treasures and swords, you find cowbells, soda cans, furnishings, etc. Some of which can be cashed in for money. Other ways to earn money include participating in a number of minigames, and acting in the commercials.

The game has a lighthearted touch. Many of the episode plots are rather bizarre. Very enjoyable
