Description
The Sims Carnival SnapCity is a simplified version of the classic city-simulator game
SimCity 2000. One of entries of the popular franchise in the casual market, it features a less detailed simulation and more straightforward approach to the building aspects of the earlier titles.
The city is presented in isometric fashion with cartoon graphics. The player defines building zones, each with a respective color: blue for business, yellow for industrial and green for residential. Zones spaces are set by placing falling geometric shapes in the terrain. These pieces resemble the ones in
Tetris. Once they are placed, buildings start to appear spontaneously.
Some large square shapes are called puzzle pieces. After placing them on the ground and filling them with other regular pieces, the player can choose a building to be created from a menu. These include city features that help in some aspects the city: schools drive down density and increase revenue, parks make the citizens happy, police stations fight crime, etc.
Like in the original game, random disasters threaten the city. Some can be stopped by clicking on them. To fight crime, for example, the player has to click and hold over an icon of a robber.
The city revenue is used to build roads connecting the zones.
