DescriptionThe Open Golf is a golf simulation with a selection of 50 eighteen hole courses. The screen is divided into different parts. On the left side occupying about 70% of the screen there is a large bird's-eye view of the course showing the tee, hole and environment. The right side shows a 3D view of the golfer from behind. In a middle window the player determines the direction using the cursor keys, curve (slice or hook) and strength of the shot, and the type of club (e.g. driver, sandwedge, wedge, woods iron ...). Other information displayed includes the current hole number, the remaining distance, the par, maximum range for the chosen club, amount of wind, wind direction and current position of the ball. Each course has its own high score table that can be loaded before starting the game. Messages praising or mocking the player are shown in a window in the bottom right corner.
On the map a red cross highlights the ball's position. The player can press a key to enable a ruler to assess the best type of club and shot strength. The terrain includes hazards such as rough grass, bunkers, streams, lakes and trees. There are no opponents.
