Windows 3.xComputer Gaming World (CGW) (Jul, 1996)
A puzzle compilation is a fragile thing, like a soufflé. With a slight variation in temperature and improper blending of the ingredients, the tantalizing confection you were counting on can come out a soggy mess. Too many compilations today are made using creaky puzzle exhumed from the Brainteaser's Graveyard and a teaspoonful of fancy visual effects that is then carelessly mixed together in a CD-ROM. What comes out of the oven are fallen soufflés that lack the dash of the intelligence, imagination, and wit required to make the batter rise. But once in a while, a chef comes along who knows the difference between puff and pastry. The designer of SMART GAMES CHALLENGE #1 is one such, and people who sample his work will be satisfied diners indeed.

Still, if you've been looking for the computer game equivalent of an SAT test, the puzzles are challenging, and you'll feel pretty darn good about yourself after conquering all 20 puzzles for a given category. After all, being a brainy, know-it-all computer geek does have its advantages.
No matter what your skill level or game interest, this program has something for you. It has a enough of a variety in the games so that one could play for hours and hours and never solve all the possible combinations of them. That is why I rate the replayability as a 5. And with the chance to win some cash by playing, this is program worth checking out.
