In Spinword, you control a block that rises up the screen. The block has 4 letters on it, and you can rotate it to select one of the four letters. You can also move the block left and right, and accelerate it. The aim is to make words (3 letters or more) top-down or left-right on the board when the blocks settle, to complete the given objective for each of the 60 levels.

For example, in the early levels, you only need to form a certain number of words. Later levels see you having to remove all blocks of a certain color from the board and solving ever more intricate puzzles before you can progress.

Although you don't get to see what set of letters comes next, it's pretty easy to plan ahead since there are a lot of words that can be made with the structure 'consonant-vowel-consonant'.

There's also an "Eternal" mode, where the aim is just to continue to make words for as long as you can. To make this more difficult, a row of letters is introduced every so often, and the words you do make are only removed once every so often.
