Squid and Let Die is a fast-paced arcade-like game loosely based on Transversion. Players control the character SYNSO on a grid shown from a top-down view. The goal is to collect all highlighted dots while avoiding the sentinels shooting from all sides of the boards. They cannot enter the grid and hover on the sides. While their shot is travelling across the board they remain immobile, so the player has to trick them into shooting to pick up nearby dots. After a certain amount of time or after collecting a certain amount of dots, the colours change and the gameplay speeds up. Clearing a grid moves SYNSO to a new one, but die once and the entire game needs to be replayed. The game is entirely based on movement and timing: SYNSO does not have a weapon. The score is also influenced by collecting dots in lines and a multiplier for collecting them in quick succession. The best overall personal score is shown on the main menu.

SYNSO series

The game is part of the SYNSO series ("Squid Yes, Not So Octopus"), but the author wanted to have the third game form a conclusion and as Squid and Let Die was only a diversion, he created the new subseries SYNSO Arcade of which this is the first game.
