Starbit is a new star exploring the Universe for the first time, looking for a safe place to call home. The players controls Starbit and friends in this same-screen multiplayer game supporting up to four players. Players hold the orbit button to orbit the nearest star, and release the orbit button to leave orbit. All navigation is controlled by carefully timing when to leave orbit. Making quick jumps between stars will give Starbit a speed boost, which decays over time. There are obstacles that will destroy Starbit, so the player must carefully plan a safe path through the levels. Players guide Starbit and friends through 45 levels, 6 game modes, and three difficulty levels. Each of the 45 levels has three variations, depending on the difficulty level. All game modes support both single player and same-screen multiplayer.

Levels are constructed of blue energy walls which Starbit will safely bounce off of, and red energy walls which destroy Starbit on contact. Levels also include up to four different star types which Starbit may orbit. Green stars may be orbited and Starbit will safely bounce off of them on contact. Red giant stars may be orbited, but they will destroy Starbit on contact. Yellow stars are unstable and vanish a short time after Starbit enters orbit around them, only to return a short time later. They are safe to make contact with, and Starbit will bounce off of them. Blue stars are very unstable and will explode (and vanish) a short time after being orbited, destroying Starbit, but will return a short time later. Blue stars are safe to bounce off of, however, and do not explode when Starbit bounces off of them.

Game modes: Puzzle Unlimited (puzzle mode without a time limit, reach the wormhole at the end of each of 25 levels to complete the level and unlock the next level). Puzzle Time Limit (same as Puzzle Unlimited, but with a time limit added. The time limit is equal to the fastest time in which the player has previously completed the level). Collection (players complete to collect the most collectable stars before time runs out, this mode has 5 levels). Power Star (players collect a power up, then attack other players for points within the time limit, this mode has 5 levels). Chaos (players compete to survive the longest in these chaotic levels where everything is moving, this mode has 5 levels). Mayhem (players compete to survive the longest in these levels where all orbitable stars either vanish or explode shortly after being orbited, and take longer and longer to return after each time they vanish, this mode has 5 levels).
