Description
Earth has been destroyed by a space-faring race. Your cryopod is collected by an AI whose sanity may be questioned. You awaken from cryosleep and are greeted by an electronic voice: "Good news! You have been pre-approved to save the humanity." So starts your voyage into the deep space to gather the remaining human survivors and search for a new home.
Spaceship Rubicon is a retroish 2D space shoot 'em up game with some roguelite elements. The game does progress by choosing to move the ship on a randomized map from one sector to another. Upon arrival to a new location you'll engage enemies and in the end some kind of an event may occur. You may find another survivor or find some new equipment, which can be used to modify your ships. The game does end when your ship is vanquished in a battle, unless you've managed to collect enough crystal shards during the battles to avoid it. Crystal shards can be used to unlock new ships and repair them as well.
The ship is moved by thrust on RMB or afterburner on Left Shift and moving or shooting direction is determined by the mouse cursor position. Weapons are triggered by RMB and special abilities by Space.
The game is an enhanced and commercial version of
Rubicon, a game released for free following a Kickstarter crowd funding campaign.
