Steel Saviour is an old-school horizontal shooter. The story: Many years after "the war" humanity is close to become extinct because of lack of water. But then a young man finds a flying war ship and travels into inner earth. Here he discovers machine creatures who are responsible for humanity's suffering. Now the player takes control of the flying ship and kills everything.

The game is played with the keyboard, the controls are constrained to moving, shooting weapons or a smart bomb which kills everything on the screen. Sometimes a killed enemy leaves an extra weapon behind which gets mounted on the bottom of the ship. It has to be fired off separately and is restricted to a limited time frame. There also is a combo system which multiplies the player's points. The ship can endure multiple hits but a collision with an enemy or the walls lead to an instant kill.
