Magical journey into the watery depths

The Good
The biggest thing I liked about this game is the extremely immersive oceanic environment. The moment you start playing Sub Titans, you feel the cool ocean depths close in around you. You really do feel deep in the ocean. Not so deep that everything is black, but deep enough for shifting light patterns to reveal the huge colourful bounty of a mysterious ocean floor. Little corals, fishys, strange anemones - everything oceanic is there in spades. Sub Titans takes you away to a different realm. It is the only sea-going RTS which does this. And it's not like other sub-simulators where you are shut into a dark sub with no outside view. Here you sea the outside of the oceanic vista in all its glory.

The Bad
It is a bit of a ho-hum in terms of RTS strategy. All the usual techniques work. Mass attacks, clever little unit strategies. They put in a good effort and it is very accomplished, but to become an outstanding title you really do need some overarching appeal to the human psyche. Maybe some connection to the lore of Atlantis? However, Sub Titans shouldn't really be faulted on this. The storyline they did create is extremely detailed and polished and the conception of te different races and unit balancing is all most carefully completed. Even down to the little details on each sub or creature.

The Bottom Line
The most unique ocean going RTS experience. You really do need to keep this in your collection because it is the only sub RTS outside which does the undersea experience in a complete fashion. When you need to "escape from reality" and immerse yourself in a bubbling deep watery realm in full colour, then this is the only game which does it.
