Nintendo Insider (Jul 24, 2014)
Bulb Boy excels in the horrifyingly twisted world that it inhabits, delivering an unworldly experience that will linger in your memory long after you see it through to completion. Illuminatingly unique, it proves to be yet another Nintendo eShop release that is not to be missed.
Way Too Many Games (Jul 21, 2017)
I wasn’t even sure what to expect from Bulb Boy when I decided to grab it for my Switch, but I sure am glad I played it. I love the setting and twisted horror themes along with the competent puzzles that are presented. While some could have been a bit more challenging, there will be parts where you will die multiple times trying to figure out the exact actions to take and yes, the enemies do not hold back from destroying or mutilating poor Bulb Boy. My main gripe is that it is just too short. I wanted more, and without any difficulty settings or any other modes there really isn’t much replay value.
NintendoWorldReport (Jul 06, 2017)
If you’re looking for a unique game experience on the Switch that isn’t terribly expensive and will provide you with a few hours of varying challenges and laughs, Bulb Boy delivers quite handsomely. Especially since, for the moment, it has nothing comparable to go up against on the console, it is a breath of fresh air as well. As long as you keep your expectations for its length in check, little holds me back from recommending Bulb Boy to people in search of a little adventuring.
Pocket Gamer UK (Jul 06, 2017)
Bulb Boy makes itself at home on the Switch to give us a spooky puzzler to play at home or on the go.
Destructoid (Jul 09, 2017)
Impressive effort with a few noticeable problems holding it back. Won't astound everyone, but is worth your time and cash.
Nintendo Life (Jul 06, 2017)
Bulb Boy won’t stay in your memories forever; it is a relatively small game that shouldn’t take too long to complete, but whilst it lasts it offers nicely designed puzzles and an underlying humour that offers a different experience. It is clearly lovingly put-together and refreshingly manages to make horror cute and fun, rather than taking itself seriously. Bulb Boy didn’t take our breath away and isn’t revolutionary, but its appeal comes in the form of its characters, craziness and toilet humour – a deadly combination that deserves to be played.
Switch Player (Jul 10, 2017)
Bulb Boy’s uniqueness is outstanding, offering a very stylish and charismatic game that blends creepiness and cuteness in a creative way. While it's also true that you won’t be in this bright little boy’s shoes for too long, the glimpse of his world will be more than worth the walk.
Switchaboo (Feb 18, 2019)
Bulb Boy is a fantastic way to kill an afternoon. Despite some of its gameplay drawbacks, its personality and nonsensical charm spurs you on to keep playing. However as the game only lasts for a couple hours, we may recommend waiting for it to go on sale (which it often does).
Nintendo Enthusiast (Jul 19, 2017)
Overall, Bulb Boy is a solid title on Nintendo Switch. If you’re looking for a horror-based point and click adventure and are on a budget, definitely pick it up when you get the chance.
