Overall, there is no getting around the fact that Nickelodeon Kart Racers is not in the same league as Mario Kart, but younger gamers with an affinity for Nickelodeon programs will enjoy playing as some of their favourites. That said, it’s hard to recommend this game to a general audience, especially with the miles better Mario Kart 8 Deluxe available on Switch, and Team Sonic Racing on the horizon. Nickelodeon Kart Racers has no online function, and its unlockable Grand Prix cups are just different combinations of tracks from the base cups. There is a decent progression and cart customization system here, but bland visuals and uninspired gameplay mean you can probably sit this race out.

I wanted to like Nickelodeon Kart Racers, I really did. It is a passable racer, but it just doesn’t match up to the competition. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe plays better, looks better, and has more tracks and characters. Nickelodeon Kart Racers does come in at $40, rather than Mario Kart’s $60, but unless you could pick it up for nearer $20 I don’t understand why anyone would choose this over its rival. You would need to be a really hardcore SpongeBob SquarePants, Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan to prefer this. I don’t doubt that there is a really good game that could be made with the Nickelodeon license, but it needs to have much better core mechanics. And with such a great library of Nickelodeon properties available, you can’t help but feel it should be using more of them.

Não há nenhuma razão convincente para adquirir este jogo. Quando existem propostas como Mario Kart 8 ou o futuro Sonic Team Racing, pagar o que quer que seja por isto constitui, acima de tudo, uma ofensa à dignidade humana.
Switch Player (Nov 12, 2018)
Save your money on this one and opt for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Nickelodeon Kart Racers is not an enjoyable racer to play and whilst it has some interesting ideas adding an RPG element to the mix, it doesn’t make up for the rest of this half baked package.
Nintendo Life (Nov 06, 2018)
There are far worse games out there than Nickelodeon Kart Racers, but there are far better ones as well. Given the tremendous opportunity represented by this IP, it’s hard not to be disappointed by the state of Nickelodeon Kart Racers; with more attention to quality and another year of development, this could’ve possibly been a compelling alternative to Mario Kart. Unfortunately, Nickelodeon Kart Racers is simply not good; derivative mechanics, a pathetic character roster and awful performance make this a bargain bin experience that you’ll be glad you missed. If you absolutely have to play a racing game with Nickelodeon characters, then by all means, go ahead, but we’d highly recommend you take a pass on this sorry effort.
Nickelodeon Kart Racers is a sin masquerading as a video game, and now we must all wish for forgiveness.
