Pinball FX3 delivers a great pinball experience much like its predecessors. The touch screen controls with the Switch’s vertical orientation option work surprisingly well and are really responsive, though I personally prefer using the Joy-Cons for a more machine-like feel. As a free download and three free tables (one with the game and two as free DLC),as well as cross-play with PC and Xbox One players, you can’t really go wrong with this one.
Pinball FX3 takes the groundwork laid by its predecessors and continues to raise the bar. The way it utilizes the many different ways to play the Switch is utterly fantastic. Not only is the utilization of the modes great, but I didn’t encounter a single performance issue in any configuration either. New modes and the table specific RPG like progression system will keep players coming back for more for a long time. This is a multi-ball jackpot of a game if I ever saw one. There is little to find fault with here. If you haven’t ever experienced Zen Studios pinball games before you need to now. To top things off, the Switch edition genuinely feels like the best way to experience Pinball FX3.

Pinball FX3 is an incredible platform for pinball tables, and while a lot of the focus is still on high score chasing, the variety of modes and options makes this deeper than the typical pinball game. The future of this game will depend on how much Zen Studios supports it with new tables, but with 30 out there to start (with one free forever and two free for the first week), the diversity is there on day one. If the craft of each table matches the presentation in the platform, this should be a regular staple of any pinball-enjoying Switch owner.
Nintendo Life (Dec 21, 2017)
The overall fun on offer in Pinball FX3 really depends on the amount of coin dropped. Certain tables are made free from time to time, but in order to experience the entire package, purchases must be made. Digital pinball fans will likely lap up the amount of content on offer, whereas those who are testing the waters might find the purchase of a single table or package is enough to sustain them for a prolonged period. The developer’s decision to stick with the existing DLC model means the player can select exactly which tables they want to play and completely ignore any that perhaps do not appeal to them. The choice on the level of investment in this game really does rest on the player.

This isn’t “authentic” pinball, but it isn’t trying to be. Pinball FX3 embraces that it is video game pinball and is more enjoyable as a result. And isn’t pinball about getting high scores and having a good time anyway?

Abwechslungsreiche Flipper-Sammlung mit coolen Features, allerdings auch noch kleinen technischen Ungereimtheiten.
