DescriptionWhere's My Water? 2 is the sequel to Where's My Water?. It is based on the same mechanics as the original game, but also contains features that were introduced in the spin-offs following the main title. The biggest difference is that unlike the commercial release of the first title with optional in-app purchases, the sequel was launched as a free-to-play game with Facebook connect for social features, an energy system, requirements to progress through level instead of skipping them, and in-app purchases for both additional energy, also through social features, and additional power-ups. These are also required for unlocking some of the late-game content. In a December 2013 update, four months after the original release, the energy system was removed from the game and users who bought the increased energy received two monster bundles.
The game was initially launched with three locations (the Sewer, the Soap Factory, and the Beach) with about 100 levels in total and presented as a path with gates that require a certain number of duckies to progress. A December 2013 update added Bayou and the Winter Woods and a March 2014 update Pirate Cove and Party in the Park. Just like the original game the player has to draw a path through dirt and other substances, using a finger, to guide a sufficient amount of water towards the character Swampy so he can take a shower. Cranky, introduced in an update for the original game, also returns and he generally favours acids in a level. They are joined by a female character called Allie who generally uses steam. More complicated levels introduce pipes and switches to open barriers, steam and acid. As in the first game there is a secondary goal where up to three ducks can be collected per level, by steering the water through them.
Next to the default levels, challenges can be unlocked that offer a variant for a level, for instance by turning it upside down or forcing the player not to touch any ducks. Completing challenges is not required, but the additional ducks that can be earned are eventually needed to keep progressing. There are also vertically-scrolling Duck Rush challenges where the water needs to be kept on the screen as it scrolls down automatically, avoiding hazards along the way and creating new paths quickly. The Mystery Duck levels added in an update for the original game also return. These ducks move to a new level every 24 hours and need to be caught with water as they move around in the environment. Catching Mystery Ducks provides rewards such as duckie costumes that can be used to give the ducks a different look.
Players earn or buy power-ups to help completing levels. The vacuum power-up makes ducks pull fluids towards them, the dropper fills duck almost completely with water so they only need a little bit more to be caught, and the absorber makes ducks immune to toxic fluids that otherwise kill them. There is a small amount of hints available that show how to complete a level. In-app purchases include a starter bundle and a monster bundle with hints and power-ups.
