Power Unlimited (Mar 02, 2016)

Replaying through Twilight Princess was decidedly enjoyable and cemented it as one of my favorites. The somber tone, often melancholic music, an impressive slate of dungeons, and intriguing characters always felt simply comforting, in a way. The transition to HD and few tweaks made in this re-release have only improved on what was already a stellar game.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is an excellent addition to the Wii U library. We do acknowledge that it's a series entry that has its critics, with them often citing a lack of revolution from the Ocarina of Time template, in particular. Those that feel that way have little incentive to revisit it on Wii U, but this writer certainly feels that it stands on its own as an accomplished game - opinions, when it comes to a series as immersive and demanding as The Legend of Zelda, are everything.

There’s a lot to love about Twilight Princess that often doesn’t get credit because it never could grip the imagination quite like Majora’s Mask, Wind Waker, or Skyward Sword did. The HD rerelease is a good chance to hop back in and appreciate all that – the terrific character development, the unique gameplay ideas, and a very scary Bug Princess.

In the end, Twilight Princess is easily the definitive version of a Zelda classic. It may not be the prettiest or the most epic Zelda, but it's still a remarkable adventure, and playing it again in glorious high definition reminded me of why I regard it as one of my favorite titles. If you own a Wii U and somehow missed it the first time, or are just chomping at the bit for more information on Zelda U, you would be well advised to give this one a try.
Gamekult (Mar 01, 2016)
Link-Cable (May 09, 2016)
It’s a sad truth but Wii U owners can’t be picky when it comes to their games and to be fair they could do a lot worse than The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD. The game brings a classic Zelda experience into the modern age complete with HD visuals, modern controls and new elements to enrich the experience. Where it falls short however is in the realization that you wouldn’t get a much different experience by sliding the Wii version in your Wii U console.
Diehard GameFan (Mar 17, 2016)
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is a remaster based on the Gamecube release of the original game, which means Link is once again left handed and motion controls are a thing of the past. The visual enhancements do well to showcase the dark aesthetic intended by the original, and the added conveniences make playing the game much more enjoyable than it was previously. Amiibos are supported by way of refilling health and arrows, though the bundled Wolf Link grants access to a new dungeon that’s sadly less exciting than it sounds. There aren’t as many enhancements as implemented in Wind Waker HD, but for Zelda fans wanted to take another stab at this entry, it’s still absolutely worth the upgrade. Especially considering how expensive it is to obtain the Gamecube original.
