My play time reads 15 hours in the console's built-in log, and I didn't really hang around to check out some of the more well hidden secrets, so the value speaks for itself; I still have to play through the Goblin Menace levels again to find the treasure chests I missed to unlock the exclusive chapter. If it was a PS2-era game, I'm sure we'd be happily paying £30 for a copy on DVD. Given that we've already awarded the previous titles full marks, and that the improvements in this edition work well across the board, then for anyone new to the game, it's absolutely essential. If you've played it before... well you might just want to give it another runthrough with a slicker control scheme.

You won't find a more complete version of one of the best indie games ever than on the Wii U eShop.
With challenging puzzles, beautiful visuals, the inclusion of previously released DLC , a bonus Wii U level, and local/online play, Trine 2: The Director’s Cut is well worth the purchase price. This downloadable title is easily one of the best games available on the Wii U. Even if you own it on another platform you really shouldn’t miss this experience on Nintendo’s newest console.
3D Juegos (Dec 10, 2012)

Trine 2 is an excellent choice for a Wii U launch title, but that’s more due to the game itself being great rather than the GamePad integration. It’s a great puzzle-platformer in its own right, and the aesthetics are absolutely beautiful; it’s just a shame some of the splendour and ease of control is lost on the smaller touch-screen. For a downloadable title, you’re also getting a heap of content: Not only including the main game and the aforementioned DLC, but also the “hardcore” mode that offers a much tougher challenge, greater distance between checkpoints and harder enemies.

As far as the Wii U's eShop offerings go, there are very few games it could have started off with that are stronger than this one. Trine 2's tailor-made adventure will delight platform and puzzle fans alike, and the game becomes a surprisingly viable option for multiplayer bashes, too. Not the longest of games, but a beautiful ride while it lasts.

This is arguably the definitive version of Trine 2, offering more content and the ability to draw and aim with a touchscreen. While some of those controls can be a bit finicky when in the heat of battle, it does offer a fun and interactive way to play this brilliantly crafted game. Trine 2: Director’s Cut does the Wii U’s eShop a favor in creating a platformer that’s both luscious and well designed and could easily go as a standalone product in some capacity. Even if you own the original, this is definitely worth checking out to see the enhancements.
IGN (Nov 26, 2012)
Trine 2 throws players into a dazzling fantasy world and gives them three fun characters – tools, really – with which to save it. It's delightfully open-ended, from how you solve problems to whether or not you go it alone. Fans of puzzle games will not be disappointed.
Vandal Online (Dec 03, 2012)
NintendoWorldReport (Nov 27, 2012)
Trine 2 is best when digested and enjoyed slowly, but even if you choose to blast through the game, you will surely have fun with its multiplayer, visuals, and puzzle design. This early eShop title is certainly worth any adventurous player’s purchase.
XGN (Dec 12, 2012)
Brilliant physics puzzles that force you to think on your feet, fun co-op and a huge, gorgeous quest for just over £10. Trine 2 is eShop gold.

Un must-have !

Think of a stunningly beautiful Lost Vikings with beautiful visuals and you'll have a good idéa of what to expect from Frozenbite's game. Touch controls take a while to get used to (although you can use more traditional controls) but this remains a superb puzzle platformer.
GamezGeneration (Dec 26, 2012)
Wiiloveit (Dec 28, 2012)
Trine 2: Director's Cut may currently be the most expensive Download-Only eShop title on Wii U, but it's also a perfect example of how to bring a game over to the platform. The added content, added visual vivacity, and new control methods make playing through the game again fun, and playing through it for the first time an absolute blast. The promise of the update may instill caution in some, but Frozenbyte have proven with the base game that they know exactly how to develop on the Wii U, and the fact that they are releasing these added features in a free update right after launch is further evidence that they care about releasing a quality product -- which the game is, beyond a shadow of a doubt.

And as a reminder, what we’ve got is nineteen gorgeous enemy-filled stages of puzzling adventure and a bonus stage if you manage to find all of the secret treasures, of which there are two in each level. Once you’ve gone through the first ninetee,n you can replay any you’ve already completed to track down the stuff you’ve missed, and adjustable difficulty levels will keep you on your toes for some time. I spent a little under twenty hours getting that far, and that was without even exploring cooperative multiplayer or replaying levels. For twenty bucks, that seems like a great deal. As someone who enjoyed The Lost Vikings way back when, this kind of gameplay is unfortunately something I haven’t experienced in a long time. It was worth the wait.
Nintendo Life (Nov 26, 2012)
Aesthetically speaking, Trine 2: Director’s Cut borders on perfection and deserves nothing less than to be framed and mounted, but the unfortunate news is that this quality does not permeate the game as a whole. Uncomfortable controls and puzzles that don’t actually adhere to sensible solutions, but instead allow you to force your own answer on them, mar the experience and slow the game down in a significant way. It’s not likely that this release will win new fans to the genre, but anyone who already enjoys physics-based puzzle platformers will definitely want to check this one out. Or maybe everyone should just buy this game simply to look at the environments. Have we mentioned how good it all looks?
BlogCritics Magazine (Feb 06, 2013)
Trine 2: Director’s Cut is a great value. You’ll get about five-10 hours of really good content for around $20. However, its missteps really detract from the experience, particularly if you’re a newcomer to the series. If you liked the original, this is a no brainer, but for others, be warned. Not everyone will fall under Trine 2’s spell.
