Cubed3 (Dec 30, 2012)
What it lacks in graphical fidelity, Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper more than makes up for in every other area, with the standard en masse battling fare proving as thrilling as ever, now complete with crazy time travelling storyline to make the missions more intriguing. On top of that, not only is there a font of information related to previous titles that Nintendo fans might have missed out on and downloadable user-created battlefields, but also a highly addictive two-player beat 'em-up mode as a special add-on!

The original’s ability to create custom scenarios is still here, for those wanting to put in the time, as are all the bond schemes and special weapons. It really is a deep well of game here, and those wanting to get lost in it can certainly do so for a long, long time. It’s really not enough to warrant a second purchase for people who played it on PS3 or 360, but if you haven’t (and can handle a bit more slowdown at times), this may be the version to get.

For a launch game, Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper works well on the Wii U, giving players something different opposed to your more mainstream releases. Gameplay is quite fluidic but the only set back is the graphically limitations of the port. Nonetheless, it's a fine example of what the Wii U can do with some classic Koei gameplay.

IGN (Nov 29, 2012)
Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper, while damaged in the shift from the other HD systems to the Wii U, ends up maintaining its appeal as one of this series’ best installments. The new content may be enough to draw established players back in for a second look, and Nintendo loyalists who’ve previously ignored the franchise could find a good jumping-on point here.

Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper is a decent launch title for the Wii U. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions had less problems with lag or the fading in and out of characters but the positives, such as a second screen during co-op, somewhat make up for the technical failures. Fans of the series will probably be pleased with the lineup of over one hundred playable characters, as will anyone who likes a good hack and slash action title.

Gaming Age (Nov 27, 2012)
In the end, I feel like Warriors Orochi 3 is still a great game, but Hyper Edition certainly isn’t a standout port. Visual issues aside, which are enough to detract from the experience, there’s just not enough added content here to draw in anyone that’s already played through the game on other consoles. Also, excluding the DLC found in the other versions of the game seems like a really awful move to make. Additional characters are nice, but four more in a game that features dozens upon dozens already isn’t enough to make a big splash. Duel Mode is a great diversion, but again, hardly a reason to plop down another $50 to $60 bucks on the game. Without any other version available to you, then I think Hyper Edition is worth checking out, but if you own a 360 or PS3, I’d stick with that.

Nintendo Life (Dec 05, 2012)
Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper is an uninspired port of an excellent game. There are missed opportunities regarding the Wii U's unique features and the slow down, frame rate and draw distance issues make this version the least appealing on the market. It never breaks the experience completely though, and its bonkers narrative and absorbing hack ‘n’ slash action is so engaging that's it's easier than you might think to look past the limitations and enjoy the oodles of content.

Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper features a lengthy campaign wherein you’ll recruit dozens of characters, many with unique fighting styles. Weapon and character customization are quite enjoyable, and there are plenty of activities to keep you busy once you tire of the core campaign. The end result is a robust package that should definitely appeal to fans of the genre. If you’re looking for old school experiences on Wii U, this is definitely a great starting point. Just know that some of the technical issues and a few of the design choices keep it from being as accessible an experience as one might hope. It’s definitely not for everyone, then, but a certain type of gamer will likely adore it.

Destructoid (Nov 21, 2012)
Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper still has the foundation of a great game, and there's plenty remaining to enjoy, but this is an unmistakably shoddy port, and the slight offering of extra content does in no way make up for that. At least I can say that playing one of my favorite series actually works really well on the GamePad, where the large control layout makes button mashing silliness a notably comfortable experience. I just wish that experience was attached to a game that ran correctly.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If you’re a fan of any of the Warriors games, any of them at all, then my review is not for you. This review is for the general public who either has never played a Warriors game or hasn’t played one in a long time because they didn’t like the gameplay of the old ones. And for those people, don’t play this game. While the PS3 and 360 versions of this game may be completely competent, the Wii U version is a mess. The framerate is poor, enemies pop-in right in front of you, and the graphics don’t look very good. Add-in what I’ve said about how boring the combat can be, and I don’t see any reason to pick this game up. There’s a fun distraction called Duel Mode tucked away that’s worth checking out, but not when you have to sort through the rest of this game to get to it.
