Nintendo Life (Aug 20, 2007)
If you're looking for an experience similar to the original Zelda (There's never truly been a Zelda like it since) then look no further, you would do well to check out this game. It copies Zelda well while adding loads of unique touches of it's own and makes for a very interesting game, perhaps even better than it's forerunner! This is easily the best game of it's kind. Well, except for Neutopia II.
GameSpot (Nov 09, 2007)
Hudson Soft gave TurboGrafx-16 owners a Legend of Zelda to call their own with Neutopia, an action adventure that was the spitting image of the Nintendo Entertainment System classic. You can see just how much of an imitation Neutopia is now that it's on the Wii's Virtual Console, but if you can look past the mimicry, you'll also find a rather engaging experience.

Overall, having OCD and making thorough maps is the best reason to play this title, but it's actually cute, somewhat engaging, and moderately enjoyable. That being said, Neutopia is a gem among Virtual Console titles, which typically range from total shite to utter garbage water if they're not one of the flagship titles like Mario or Sonic. I dropped about ten hours into this game, so clearly it's worth the price if you want to relive some Legend of Zelda glory days or like to get a good value for your money.

Having said that, it's charming enough for all its derivative stylings and, if you're looking for maximum value for your Wii points, then even a nice-but-generic role player is a more useful addition to the roster than yet another sub-par platformer.
