The Onyx Arcade II
is a compilation of four simple (but compilation-exclusive) games designed to be playable in a window using a fraction of the screen.
The games are:
- Bio Buster, a kind of Space Invaders / Whac-A-Mole hybrid
- Asteroid Clash, a vertically-scrolling shooter
- Eat. Yom., a horizontally-scrolling dodge-'em-up
- and Astro Phong, an elaborate riff on Pong.
All of the games have simple keyboard controls, moving along an axis with the Ctrl and Alt keys with the Shift sometimes used for a second function.

Right on time
No, this game wasn't made for Win 3.11 in 2015; it was made in Macromedia Director as a "Hello World" exercise in game design (following the genuinely lost Onyx Arcade I
) for personal consumption sometime in the vicinity of early 1998, then found itself submitted for inclusion in a computer artpack scheduled for release in August of that year -- M-9808.ZIP
. Somehow getting frozen in a time warp, the artpack did eventually get released, albeit seventeen years behind schedule, much to the onetime designer's profound embarrassment.
