W stosunku do poprzedniej części zmieniło się niewiele. Gra wygląda oczywiście dużo lepiej i oferuje bardziej realny model jazdy, większy teren oraz mnóstwo przyczep. Ładniej wyglądają pobocza i asfalt, a mapa jest bardziej przejrzysta. Ciężarówka wydaje się cięższa, trudniej nad nią zapanować - ale to efekt dążenia do realizmu. Generalnie jednak 18 Wheels of Steel: Pedal to the Metal jest w stosunku do 18 Wheels of Steel: Across America, jak FIFA Football 2004 do FIFA Football 2005. Steel nur schwer in die Gänge: Die ersten Spielstunden
verbringen Sie ausschließlich mit elend
langen Lieferfahrten. Doch spätestens mit der Selbständigkeit
legen die LKWs einen kräftigen Zahn zu.
Die Tourenplanung erfordert taktisches Geschick –
Rufverbesserung, coole Tuningteile und neue
Trucks motivieren ungemein.
Sicher, wer nur auf actionreiche Highspeed-Duelle abfährt, schläft bei 18
Wheels of Steel binnen Minuten
ein. Wer jedoch auch nur ein kleines
Herz für dicke Brummis hat,
sollte unbedingt einen Blick riskieren,
zumal der Preis echt fair ist.

Autorzy chcieli wprowadzić do nowych 18 kółek sporo zmian. Niektóre z nich są całkiem dobre. Dodatkowo gra ma ładną grafikę i niecodzienną tematykę. Jednak podczas ulepszania już świetnego produktu, mam nadzieję, że niechcący programiści zgubili klimat, który w tej grze jest bardzo potrzebny. Pograć można – a jakże! Jeśli nie miałeś styczności z Hard Truckami i serią 18 Wheels of Steel, to lepiej zacznij od którejś ze wcześniejszych wersji, aby poznać klimat gry, którego w Pedal to the Metal trochę brakuje. A dla starych znajomych serii będzie to kolejna gra do pogrania. Chciałbym na końcu jeszcze zaznaczyć, że grę dość dobrze spolszczono.

Na koniec najtrudniejsza decyzja, czyli wystawienie oceny. Z jednej strony grywalność jest nadal tak samo duża, ale z drugiej... Nowa część serii Hard Truck/18 Wheels of Steel to wyraźny krok wstecz. Wydawanie kolejnej części nie powinno ograniczać się do ulepszenia grafiki i powiększenia terenu rozgrywki. Może lepiej poczekać na znakomicie zapowiadający się Rig’n’Roll? Ja czekam. Nie mam już sił zaliczać powtórki z Hard Truck: 18 Wheels of Steel.

Wer Spiele wie King of the Road mag, wird auch von diesem Spiel begeistert sein. Das Gameplay bietet viele gute Ansätze, die für Trucker-Fans natürlich eine Offenbarung sind. Für die restliche Gamerwelt wird in meinen Augen jedoch nicht viel Interessantes geboten. Die langweiligen Umgebungen lassen die Missionen schnell sehr eintönig wirken. Auch ist die Steuerung sehr anfängerfeindlich. Der Sound ist eine Katastrophe. Insgesamt ist das Game leider nur Durchschnitt.
