I've played all the Carol Reed mystery adventures -- the story in this one is a standout. It's chock full of clues that tantalize and locations that entice. Gameplay is compelling, as clues to the mystery rapidly surface, opening new locations. Just a click on the map, and I would be hot on the trail, uncovering disquieting details, speculating about implications -- and wondering how Carol would explain these revelations to the unsuspecting Stina.
In sum, Amber's Blood: A Carol Reed Mystery is a very good and enjoyable game to play. If you are a fan of murder mystery, the game will supply enough interest to keep you involved and searching for more clues. Despite the subject matter, the game is family orientated. With MDNA Games releasing a game for this series roughly every year, it appears that there are plenty of mysteries left for Carol to solve.

Taking your time to explore this intricate and thoroughly intriguing story can easily take about five hours, followed by a rewarding conclusion with a wrap-up for each of the major characters that at times can be quite funny. The finale arrived with many “ah ha!” moments for me, never relying on easy clichés. There may not be much new blood in the gameplay or visual department, but rather than detracting from the experience, this simple presentation allows the focus to shine fully on its compelling mystery involving murder, insanity, ancestry, and friendship. Sure, it may feel fairly dated, but if you can look past that, Amber’s Blood is a worthy addition to the Carol Reed library, and an enjoyable adventure in its own right.
