Aveyond: The Lost Orb

The Lost Orb is the third installment in the Aveyond 3: Orb of Magic series and the fifth game overall. It is a turn-based RPG where players have to solve puzzles and complete tasks, which progresses the storyline and helps the characters level up. The game is shown through an almost top-down perspective. The six playable characters include Mel from the previous game (spy), June (magician), Edward (prince), Yvette (shapeshifter), Ulf (scholar) and Spook (thief).

The game starts after the events of the previous game Aveyond: Gates of Night. Mel is about to wed Edward in Thais, but the events vary slightly based on who Edward proposed to at the end of the previous game. After the vows are exchanged, Mel turns changes into another character and confusion arises over whom Edward married. The events that follow further vary based on the different storylines, but at the start of the game a sequence is shown where a woman called Rayina is chased by Darklings. Rayina reveals herself as a shapeshifter, turns into a bird and flies off with the baby. Afterwards Mel is informed that her ancestor Mordred Darkthrop has left her a powerful, magical orb. She wants to have nothing to do with it, but has to find a way to get rid of it so that it does not end up in the wrong hands.
