Aztaka is a remarkable achievement. For a first release from an independent developer, the game shows an incredible amount promise. While the game may be lacking a little in polish (something that may come with additional patches), it is difficult to ignore Aztaka’s gameplay innovations and visual presentation. The action role-playing game genre is not as prevalent as it once was, but in following with the Aztec cycle of life, death and rebirth, Aztaka is doing its part to revitalize it.
Game Tunnel (Sep, 2009)
Aztaka has top notch production: great visuals and music, decent RPG elements and a very immersive atmosphere. There's not much to complain about here, especially if you're a fan of this genre.
GameZebo (Jun 23, 2009)
Even though it sounds like it may be a bit much for the more casual player, don't let the challenge of Aztaka be a negative. A bit of perseverance, patience, planning and reflexes will grant you an excellent experience. Citeremis should be proud of their first major release, and gamers should not miss this great adventure title.
Gameplay (Benelux) (Jun 27, 2009)
GameBanshee (Jun 18, 2009)
Aztaka is certainly not a bad game. However, other than the beautiful environments and its unique combination of the RPG and platform genres, it doesn't stand out in any way. The gameplay is certainly novel, but it's not polished enough to work really well, and can get pretty boring at times.
