Booster packs
The 1.5 patch added the booster packs Euro Force and Armored Fury as free to play content for all players.
Graphics card support
Battlefield 2 is the first game to support Nvidia's 7800GTX and the first to drop support for GeForce 4 Ti cards.
Intro
The entire intro sequence is made up of 9 people (Nathan Clay, Rory Clench, Chris Hallam, Susan Holman, John Hopkin, Chris Lacey, Barrie Tingle, Anthony Zoghob and Johan Γstman) being used in different positions and all edited together.
Ladders
The AI will never climb a ladder, instead opting for the option of dropping an artillery strike on the players' positions.
Online servers
The game's online servers (which were hosted on GameSpy) were scheduled to shut down on 30 June 2014, like for other Electronic Arts titles in the wake of GameSpy's total closure.
References to the game
Battlefield 2 was parodied in an episode of "Die Redaktion" (The Editorial Team), a monthly comedy video produced by the German gaming magazine GameStar. It was published on the DVD of issue 06/2006.
